I didn't know if this had been covered somewhere else, if it has I apoligize. Personally never thought Imus should have lost his job over comments made, and the same with Tiki Barber, but I do find it amazing the way NBC, and MSNBC are going out of their way to protect him, when Imus was thrown totally under the bus. Where is NOW, and the other women advocacy groups, where is the outrage?Orlando Sentinel - Sports Celebrity! - On the good (and bad) life of sports figures with Shannon J. Owens

It wasn't actually a female dog, it was a little worse than that. But if you watch the video and the potshot that the woman took at Tiki, you'll understand why he went there. This isn't close to what Imus did. It was under his breath, meant to be off mike . . . and she clearly had it coming.:)

I agree that she deserved some of that, but when you call a woman the "c" word, twice, for some in our society, they would say their is no excuse for that. Then, Tiki and NBC comes back and states that's not what he said, when its clear that's what he did say. Just seems to be a bit curious to me, to say the least.

There is not a single word in the English language that will PO most women more than the C word does.

Nappy headed ho

VS.

the infamous C word.

I couldn't even repeat Tiki's comment on Volnation without getting kicked off. So who's was worse?

Anyone watch "Curb Your Enthusiasm"? There's a whole episode where Larry David calls a guy "That Word". Funny show.

double standards rear their ugly heads once again
Not sure there's really a double standard at work here. Imus made a public comment that degraded an entire group in the name of making a joke. Tiki just said a bad word a little too loud in response to an insult.

I understand what your saying, but lets turn this around some. Lets say thats a white male saying that to a black female under the same circumstances. And how about the Kelly Tilgman comments. While obviously a bad choice of words, also obvious was the innocent nature she used this term, and some in the black community called for her firing, and was suspended. For me, its not whether the situations are comparable, but rather how these different situations were handled.

the wiki entry for the "c" word is quite a read.
Yeah, no kidding
