Impact Players

I don't blame Bray for anything. The kids done good. Most of the mistakes that were made, Bray shouldn't have been put in that position, thanks to the lousy defense. If UT, had just a little defense, Bray would still be a Heisman candidate.

Z. Rogers, is the man. To me, the only guys that consistently make the plays are ZR, Rivera and Patterson.

Hunter, has the talent but, he's a total crapshoot.

BIG PROPS go out to the O-line. You guys are the best in the SEC.

R. Neil, can stay on the sideline. Lane, is doing a great job and will only get better. He hits the hole hard, has pretty good vision and keeps it North and South.

Like someone else said, Lathers has heart. However, he's been exposed and inconsistent.

AJ Johnson, has had some great moments as well as Jacques Smith.

Hunter has dropped a few very very easy passes (and potential game changers).. but a crap shoot? His stats do not lie man. He's been there. He's just in the shadow of CPs and ZRs big plays, but he's been there.

And I also disagree with the Lane part, Raijon has proven to be a quality back. He has drastically increased his YAC and has shown the ability to get the hard yards. I say Neal stays exactly where he's at.

Other than that, that post (in my opinion) was spot on!

We're a little over half way through the season. There have been some surprises for me with regards to how some players have contributed throughout the year. Some have made impacts both positively but some negatively when it really matters.

Positive Impacts:
Zach Rogers
AJ Johnson
Herman Lathers
CP

Negative Impacts:
Entire kicking team
Secondary
Tyler Bray

Feel free to argue or add to it. :salute:

Really? Bray is leading one of the best passing attacks in the SEC. May not be stepping up as the leader he should, but I wouldn't say he's been a negative impact.

Agree. I don't understand why there is always a Neal v. Lane argument on VN. If Neal would've averaged 3.7 the last two games, he would be getting dogged, but Lane is "running well."

JH hasn't really made any big plays when we needed them this year, CP and ZR are filling that role for us. Yes, Justin has put up some numbers but he always seems to choke when we really need it this year. Yes, I know CP dropped a sure TD pass and ZR has dropped a few but not like Hunter has this year. He'll probably go pro after this season even though he really needs to stick around another year and learn to truly be the dominant receiver he has the talent to be.

Without Bray we win about 3 games total the last two years. DD folks will blame anybody but him. The biggest negative is DD hands down.

Johnson and lathers are not good linebackers.

I heard a pro guy say that the Vols have nine guys starting on offense that will be drafted by the NFL. He also said that four of those will be drafted in the first two rounds.

Doesn't shock me.

The players i was critical of were alluded to in the original post as positive impact players

Yeah, Herman is in there trying his best. But he has had like four knee surgeries, and a bout with cancer, and he's probably 38 years old. He can't run much anymore.

I disagree with the Johnson not being a good linebacker. I don't think Johnson is the best out there but I do think he is good. He has been exposed in some pass situations and has been shown not to be the fastest LB but I don't think that makes Johnson not a good LB.

exactly , great leader mediocre football player

Are you serious? Herman had 15 tackles and a int in the South Carolina game. There are times he gets beat cause coaches don't have good matchups out there but to say he is a mediocre player on this team is foolish.
