It's 2007. You're the DC for LSU. You've done a great job and the Cornhuskers come to you. You say yes. You do a good job in your first year. Then, your Alma Mater/Favorite school (Tennessee) sends Fulmer packing. After your Bowl Game, they offer you the job and double your salary.

Do you take it?

Edit: Bo didn't go to UT. I'm simply saying that you, as a UT alum/fan, were in Bo's shoes from LSU-Nebraska, when your favorite school had an opening a year later

On one hand I would say get me out of Nebraska and I'm on the next flight out. On the other hand UT is still behind Nebraska in the rebuilding process so it UT would have to give me a giant raise to make it happen.

In 2007 Nebraska was 5-7.

The Pelini brothers are real class acts. The state of Ohio deserves them.

He wasn't. That's why I'm saying that you are in his position.

Got it. College football coaches move so much the job would probably open again in 5-10 years. Id take it then

Missed that part... thought we were talking about at this moment.

Yeah, I'm talking about real time. When Fulmer was sent packing, would you have taken the UT job, thereby leaving Nebraska after one year for double the salary?

I would Crusse, which is exactly why I don't blame Kiffin for what he did...unless Nebraska came with a counter offer that TN couldn't match.

Tennessee would have been in much better shape now if they could have gotten a coach like Bo Pelini in 2007.

Obviously if I were a coach, I'd crawl over broken glass to coach at my alma mater.

Did you guys realize "alma mater" is latin for "nourishing mother?"

Creepy.

Pelini is at one of the top five programs of all time, with the support of the fanbase and a supportive AD who will give him anything he needs to get Nebraska back on top. There's no way in hell I'd leave a job like that, right when my rebuilding efforts are about to really pay off, and especially not for a lateral move to a place that's about to get hammered by the NCAA.

not if Tennessee is about to get hammered by the NCAA. I keep doing a good job and wait for the job to possibly open again.
