I'm willing to overlook the ugly performances

I see your point, and I'm sorry you feel that way. I think many have never been fully on board with the hiring if Butch, and see the headlight barreling down the track. I see both sides, I really do. Regardless, nobody should be tweeting or contacting players and downing them. They are the real potential victims of coaching malpractice.

And as I suspected, you and I are not far apart....there is plenty of common ground to hang to. Some people, on both sides, are unable to grasp that

Here is a point that has either been forgotten or quite possibly is hard to grasp. Especially for the Nega-Vol

Tennessee coaching search: Top 4 said no, so let's list every possible candidate - SBNation.com

Most of the people we went after "TURNED US DOWN"

No one wanted Butch Jones in the beginning including myself. But guess what in spite of the asinine posts like the one to start this thread he has far exceeded all of our expectations and its time to shut up and let him coach. If we fire him the only thing that will be accomplished is the candidates that did not turn us down 4 years ago will have a second chance.

PLUS

He wanted this job and is all in and works tirelessly to make improvements

I've never really been on board or "off" board. I have just tried to watch, wait, and be objective about what I saw. Maybe it "clicks" this week and we see the hopes of those who bought in fulfilled. But some of the issues that those folks are just now becoming concerned about were evident from the start.

A great coach doesn't have to have overwhelming talent to coach well. You can see their impact even with lesser talented players. We didn't really see that from Jones early. In some respects, the team regressed early. Dooley wasn't the answer but some of his assistants were, and have proven to be since, very good coaches. There seems to be little doubt that there was a serious drop off from Pittman to Mahoney.

Just like my most recent reply at the top of this page states. Go ahead and fire Butch Jones before he fully rebuilds the program and miss out. Plus it will give all the candidates that did not get to turn us down a second chance.

I would normally be reserved and less sarcastic but the OP set the tone and sometimes you just have to speak the language that you know they understand.

Totally on board with everything you said here. I've kept a wait and see approach with Butch for the most part. I'm able to overlook mistakes if a coach can rely on good assistants. Unfortunately that has rarely been the case with Butch. He's famous as a control freak, so with that comes the lions share of the blame. Hard heads seldom make good leaders. He's got 4 games to make a believer out of a lot of people....the proof has to come now, or he'll lose a lot of fence sitters.

Don't wait until its to late. Accept the fact we should be grateful things have worked out as well as they have the last 4 years. Just like I stated before everyone we wanted turned us down and we are very fortunate to have what we do.

Sorry I baited you guys into this by derailing with sarcasm.

Facts are like punch lines. Best served at the closing statement.

you've confused your opinions with facts. easy mistake when you're close minded.

You just broke my streak of non football posts.

Do you really believe things could have been better the last four years in spite of the FACT all of our top candidates turned us down? It could be better, but the odds were not in our favor.

I can not think of one person who thought we would be anywhere close to what we have now at the time of Jones hiring.

ok. you and i have very different definitions of "football talk".

I'm going to separate out the part about football from the above post.......

O wait I just copied and paste the whole thing. I did not need to separate anything!!!!!

BTW it was a simple yes or no question. Do you think it could have been worse?

That's mostly due to the fact that the SEC and especiallythe SEC East, has gotten weaker every year he's been here. And his great recruiting has had something to do with that, but you replaced Franklins top 25 Vandy with the SOV, Mizzou lost their offensive capability, if only temporarily, UGA never found a QB after Murray, UF has been terrible up until last year, SC fell off a cliff. Even Alabama is substantially more beatable that when Butch was hired.

That's because there is no such thing. We are all fans. Some have different points of view....but we all support this team and want to beat Florida.

The Nega-Vol/Sunshine Pumper dynamic is bordering on absurd. Check your superfan status at the door.

This.

I beet Reece is one of those guys who thinks Michigan actually considered hiring Butch.

The more accurate statement would be I bet tvolsfan is one of those guys who thinks Harbaugh would have come to UT because if he would have read the previous posts he would have been able to have understood the displeasure I along with everyone else had when we hired Butch. And also how anyone of whom had cleaned the bodily fluids out of their ears after removing their head from their ass should be able to see we are fortunate to be where we are today considering all the coaches who turned us down 4 years ago.

I think that is the third or fourth time I have posted this. Spread the news to all those that can read and maybe they can translate it to coloring books for those that cannot.

lol maybe that will penetrate the mind of the simple Nega-Vols
