I'm stumped

From elsewhere:

Two good quarters against Florida mean that the Vols have now looked like an SEC contender in three out of the 12 quarters they've played so far. Florida's halftime complacency and subsequent collapse are just masking the fact that Tennessee is still playing mistake-prone and situationally unaware football. The pollsters are always the easiest to fool, but the cat is somewhat out of the bag with the oddsmakers, who have the Vols installed as a mere field-goal favorite at a struggling Georgia team that also has seen its Vegas stock crash this year.

The reduction in value and soft schedule means that you'll need to be more circumspect in picking your spots, but don't expect this team to beat anybody that's truly any good the rest of the way.

I will be pleased as punch if we are considered the Rodney Dangerfield of CFB, every step of the way to Tampa.

It's weird to me that people sit in front of that marketing every day and actually care what someone who knows less about your team than you do, actually thinks. Just keep winning the next game and all this ranking and talking head noise will end up right where we want it.

I remember how some didn't think we deseved the trip to Tempe in 98' b/c of the precarious way we got to 12-0. Does anyone here give a flying frogs arse about that now?

It's irrelevant, dude. Respect will come if we keep winning games. We've got three straight tough ones ahead. Win and respect grows. Lose and it doesn't matter.

I remember how disrespected Tennessee was by ESPN in 1998. Everyone picked Syracuse to beat us, (understandable, since we lost Peyton and were on the road). Then, everyone picked Florida to beat us (once again, understandable, as they were the #2 team in the country at the time, and we had lost 5 straight to them). But we won both games.

You'd think we would've gotten loads of respect after that, but no. Corso said the very next week that 0-3 Houston might upset Tennessee because of Houston's "#3 rushing defense in the country" (yes...he really said this). Then, everyone on gameday picked Georgia to beat us, and UT dominated that game. After all that, having defeated 3 opponents that were supposed to beat us, we were still only #4 in the polls, behind Ohio State, UCLA, and Kansas State.

By the lack of respect for Tennessee still. Nobody wants to give us respect...NOBODY. Not the talking heads, not vegas (-3 really?). NOBODY.

Do people just not see it yet? Do people not want to acknowledge it yet? Just what is going on here because it's weird. We are better than people give us credit for and only getting better.

This is the hangover media has from getting burned by UT not performing up to expectations the past couple of years....they will be back, we just have to WIN, WIN, WIN!!!!!

GBO!!!!
