I hate to say this and it really breaks my heart especially with all the old memories, all the time, the effort, the money we have spent over the years, but today is a big day for me.

Today is a big day and whether I completely check out or not as a life long loyal fan.

I've seen what this program has been and what it can be and I just can't take anymore.

I can't support people (the administration) at Tennessee that don't truly support the university's success.

Everything in Knoxville runs through that football field. Believe that.

If Dave Doeren is hired I most likely won't go to any games this coming season.

We are annual donors who have been on the lower west side for over 30 years. I'm no Haslam by any stretch. But I'm a life long and decades long donor.

I can't believe the Board of Trustees continue to allow the President and Chancellor to run this once great program into the bottom of the conference.

....and in the same breath they claim to be committed to 300+ million in renovations.

But won't spend fractions of that for a respectable football coach..

It literally is just shameful.

I donate thousands yearly and own season tickets for 6 straight years. If they hire this nobody I’m calling today and canceling my annual donation, I’m not renewing, and I’m protesting Saturday and burning everything I own that is orange and I’m leaving it there. I’m sick of wasting my money on mediocrity and An AD that only cares about profits not winning football games

People who have donated money and bought tickets over the last 10 years are enablers and are part of the problem. Myself included.

Come down from the ledge. You’re getting worked up for no reason.

I think a lot of us are going to be “put out of our misery today”

Sadly, I agree. 50 plus years and today it most likely ends. UT football will be dead to me. What's sad is that UT simply could not get a quality coach to say yes. I know it's a tough job, brutal conference, high expectations but when 7 mil isn't enough to lure a name coach, it tells me how our brand is perceived. Specifically, it's how our AD and BOT are perceived. Everyone wants and needs a quality work environment with the people you work for being solid, honest individuals. When the guy calling the shots is making news for fraud and cheating customers, what does that say about the brand? The bosses?

No, this is not what we, the long time fans, want to think about our school, but it's now becoming reality to us. Yes, I know the Haslams have been pulling the strings for a long time. Perhaps we just chose to ignore things. Regardless, it's now more than a dirty little secret. It's, as they say in Hollywood, a well known dirty little secret among the coaching fraternity. This is the level of hire we are now capable of....and really, short of our luck with alums like Majors and Fulmer, it's always been that way for UT. Up and comers. That's our reality. With Doeren, we get not only an up and comer, but one who has a bad working relationship with his boss and a guy who is looking to get out. That's our reality and now we get shoved down another 4-5 year slide before this nightmare process starts anew.

Let's hope the authorities can find enough dirt on Haslam to finally force UT to pull away from the money trough and Currie does such a garbage job, he ends up leaving as well. If we can clean our gutters over the next few years, maybe we can attract a decent coach next time around and we, the loyal fans, can return to an old love....UT football on Saturdays. Yeah, today is going to be a dark day.

Freak, after the dust settles today, you might be able to save some money on servers.... They are about to give the fanbase the biggest middle finger an AD has given.

They could if they'd try.

Leach would say yes
Kiffin would say yes
Miles would say yes
Martin would say yes
Petersen probably would for the right brinks truck
Brohm would if they were competent.

The AD once again didn't even try.

At Wake Forest, they used to play Steely Dan's Deacon Blues:

"They got a name for the winners in the world
I want a name when I lose
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide
Call me Deacon Blues"

They can change this to ...

"They got a name for the winners in the world
I want a name when I stop
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide
Call me Rocky Top"

I am pretty close to being done myself. Fall is a pretty time of the year here in Knoxville. Maybe I can take a Saturday and hike up to Rainbow Falls and watch the colors change. Spend time with my family. Since our Athletic department no longer sees itself as an elite program neither will I.

At this point I don't think Currie even likes Tennessee, oh wait not sure he ever did. I think he is sabotaging us before he leaves

I was completely on board with the outcry that put a stop to a guy who likely turned a blind eye to a pedophile, however protesting and burning your UT gear just because we don't get a splash hire is pathetic. It also proves what many in the media accused the fanbase of with regard to the Schiano reaction. All the protesting had little to do with a true scandal but he wasn't a blonde haired blue eyed pretty boy that could win a press conference and more to do with the fact he wasn't fancy pants enough for you so called Big Orange fans.

So burn your gear and get out. More tickets available for fans of the program and not fans of the coach.

This isn't because it's not a splash hire. Brohm wasn't a splash hire.

It's because we got rid of butch just to hire his carbon copy. The AD isn't even trying. To hell with the media.

It's fans like you who will continue to slurp put the absolute **** that they continue to feed us that will cause us to wallow in mediocrity. You hold the keys to the kingdom and yet you're so content with mediocrity, you don't do anything with them.
