to see if the offense changes without Justin Hunter. We were a deep ball team. Now, Da'Rick can get down the field, but he's better in the 10-15 yard range in terms of his route and ability. Tennessee might become more dink and dunk with such a plethora of slot receivers in Arnett, Z. Rogers, and Dallas. Should be something to look for in the Buffalo game, and more importantly, the Georgia game.

I actually agree which is why we're not gonna hang 40+ on Buff. Offense isn't geared for that anymore. Good post

People keep saying we are going to work on the run game against Buffalo, but I really think we will do a lot of passing to get everyone aquainted.

Dink & dunk scares me with SEC caliber linebackers and short safeties. It's asking to be intercepted in the open field.

It does me as well, but when you have an accurate passer like Bray, and then with slots like Arnett and Dallas we should be ok.

I still don't get this. When the %$#* did Da'Rick become Tom Waddle? He can run-he just wasn't asked to because Hunter was better off going deep versus over the middle with a 187lb frame. For some reason I think Jim Chaney and Dooley can adapt.

You don't have to have a 6'4 olympic athlete to run a successful college offense. Would you prefer it? Sure. But it's not a damn prerequisite.

It is possible, but that deep ball Bray threw to Rogers in the UNC game last year was a thing of beauty.. so teams will have to respect that. Even though Rogers is better in the mid-range.

I like Rogers... but by himself he doesn't scare D's like the tandem did or IMO like Hunter would by himself. I don't necessarily look for an abandonment of the deep ball but it will necessarily be a smaller part of the gameplanning.

We will still go deep once in a while. I just don't think you are going to see as many 15 yard comeback, deep outs, deep posts, etc that we saw in the Cincy game and Florida game. I just don't think it'll be as often, especially with Da'Rick get double coverage most of the time

UT will be able to do whatever they choose against Buff and not much of what they want against UGA. Let's not get all depressed yet. Enjoy this weekend before you look ahead to another dose or reality.

Rogers is huge, athletic, and runs a sub-4.4. It's silly to think that we know longer have a deep threat.

What were Hunter's yds per catch vs rest of the receivers and who replaces that? How do we stretch the field without Hunter? If we can't do that then our ability to hit the big downfield play is diminished. If you're wondering how I just embarassed you with my response its because I watch football - you should try it

So how much you want to wager on us not scoring 40+ pts?

Teams will start to cheat up to stop the dink and dunk and that is when having Bray and Rogers will get them. You creap up and we will just throw over you. you lay back and we will dink and dunk. Double cover and hopefully we will gut you with the run.

I agree. And I think we'll try to see if we can find somebody to stretch the field and let Arnett work underneath.

I just love how everyone thinks football is so simple. Apparently, everyone that stretches the field in college football has two studs like Hunter and Rogers. That is absolutely not true. Most teams have one big play guy, and a bunch of guys that are good route runners. People also fail to realize how open the middle of the field will be if teams just double Da'Rick all game. Football is a little more complex than, "Hey, we are going to double this guy and press the WRs the entire game." Good luck with that gameplan vs. any average OC much less one that has been in the NFL and has been around great college offenses. Also, TN threw for essentially 400 yards with Hunter out vs. Florida once you factor in all the pass interference penalties by DBs who couldn't keep up with our WRs behind Hunter. And to think, that was without any sign of a running game.

As long as they are moving the chains and making scoring drives, then it's all good. throwing the little dinks and dunks will open up the long ball. :eek:k:
