He's earned a pass with me for alot of things with his hire of Bruce Pearl. I will also be the first to admit that when he made that hire I was screaming, "Bruce who???" His recent comments concerning the head coaching position in regard to the football program really concern me. If the big cheese cant seem to find it in his heart to defend or add value to the university/state/program to the media, well, where does that leave us? I was disheartened to say the least.

He won't do anything till the end of the season anyways Rex. If our team even wants to think about winning out, he can't make negative comments right now. I agree it was alittle disheartening to say the least, but you can't throw anyone under the bus at this point in the season if your in Hamilton's position. Plus, what would a successor think about the most recent head coach getting hammered by the AD with 5 games left??

Don't worry about Hamilton. When Phil retires, ol' Mike is out of a job.

Part of the reason why we are in this situation is because Hamilton gave Fulmer and the staff unnecessary raises and extensions last season and he didn't really bring the thunder after the 5-6 season.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but was Hamilton the AD that gave Fulmer the contract extension/raise before the Peach Bowl or was that Doug Dickey as he was on his way out the door?

It was hamilton's first or second year.

Why would Hamilton be out of a job?? I agree him and Phil are buddies, but Hamilton isn't going anywhere. You forgetting our men's B-Ball team is starting out in the Top 10 in the Coach's Poll and the AP hasn't been released yet that I can find. Hamilton is a great AD and will get the ship back in shape once Fulmer leaves.

Hamilton might have another smart hire depending on how the baseball team does the next few years. He certainly hasn't done anything other than show a bit of loyalty to a national championship homer coach that would leave me to believe he'll be gone soon.

Mike Hamilton isn't going anywhere, unless we lose him to another school for monetary reasons. Phil will never replace Hamilton simply because he's Phil. MH has more pull right now at UT than just about anyone on campus.

I don't buy into the fact hamilton is such a great AD. He is doing nothing about our football team and continues to set on his hands. Inadvertantly or not he is helping kill our program for years to come. Recruiting will lag and their is a staleness to our program that may linger for awhile with his refusal to fix the problem.

think about it, if you are really thinking about hiring a new coach, wouldnt you want to make the job as attractive as possible? If you truely love the University of Tennessee would you ever degrade the school/program/HC position in public? why then, does our top guy go on the air and say this job is not as good as we think?

Fulmer earned his chance to turn the program around. If you can't admit that, it shows the worthlessness of your posts. Fulmer has proven he can't turn it around. MH can't throw the football team under the bus midseason, especially while we are somehow still in contention for the SECE. This would kill any hope left on the team and it would destroy recruiting this offseason. Give the man his chance.

If he sits on his hands at the end of this season, then I will agree with that. But right now, you can't read too much into anything Hamilton says. he's gotta play the political games and try to give Phil the proverbial "vote of confidence" and talk about letting the season play out and blah blah...

Just because he is slow to kick a coach who has had a lot of success in the past doesn't mean he is a horrible AD. Bruce was a great hire, and he certainly didn't hesitate to get rid of Delmonico.

I think he did that to shut us up somewhat. We are so ready to throw people under the bus, the fanbase sometimes makes the job look worse than it really is. UT is a Top 5 job if there is an available opening.

I think he's sandbagging. I may be wrong, but I think he's trying to lower expectations here at home. But I hope he's getting better feedback than what he's said on the radio this week. If that is the truth, then it is what it is and we have to get a grip on reality and realize that maybe Tennessee isn't a marquee job. I don't believe that right now, but all of this will play itself out in December.

Call it worthless if you want. But after tonight you won't. I'am not talking about just this year bill. How about 5 or 6. What you are seeing now is a direct result of complatency. Drink the Mike hamilton kool-aid if you want. But the guy already is part of the reason we are suffering.

please do not forget that it's mike hamilton's job to represent the university and he dropped the ball in a big way.

You can't bail on a coach after one bad season. Even I don't hate Fulmer that much. I'm not going to think any different tonight, next Saturday, the Saturday after that, the Saturday after that, or after the final Saturday of the regular season.

If, and ONLY IF, I sit in Neyland Stadium for the Orange and White game with Fulmer on the sidelines, I might think differently. You can't throw the team under the bus right now. It's a move that has to be made at the end of the season, not now. Hamilton has to play the PC card and get through the season and then make his decision as to what is best for the program.

Rex, I think you maybe stretching this all out of whack just alittle bit. He shouldn't have done the interview probably, or at least not said the things he did, but he represents UT well and until I see otherwise I will support his decision making 110%.

Thats what i'am saying. I don't understand why everyone is so high and mighty on this guy. Yeah he hired pearl. But even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. Geez wake up people.

So because Hamilton won't fire a coach that brought us our first NC in 41 years, he's a lame duck. OK, now I've heard it all. I want Fulmer gone as much as the rest of the board, but Fulmer DESERVES to go out swinging.

alot of you guys are overlooking the fact that he is Phil's guy...for all intents phil put mike in that job. now ask me again why everybody got raises after last year.
