and I've never blamed the refs for losses, but tonight's UK-MSU game was awfully.....suspicious, I guess might be the word, to me in a lot of respects.
I've come to expect calls at home and games with uneven officiating, but I rarely see what I saw in Starkville. First of all, the overtime was just atrocious. The worst was the Patterson "block", the most egregious of all the calls. Then you have the goaltending, the "fouls" on Wall (The second one looked less suspicious except for the lateness of the call) and Vanardo fouling out while Cousins mauls half the gym.
Furthering the situation was the ESPN crew, who sheepishly noted the most obvious bad calls on UK (Although, saying "that could've gone either way" on the Patterson play was absurd. I've seen any number of commentators go apes**t on those type plays.) without really noting the horrendus officiating balance, yet decided to excorriate the MSU crowd for much of the postgame show. I guess, if I bought into certain theories, I might note Jimmy Dykes was a UK Assistant at one time. But, anyway.
Again, I don't buy into many conspiracy theories and I doubt there's some kind of SEC-ESPN directive to protect Kentucky (Or Alabama football, for that matter). However, I do find it kind of......odd, I'll just say.
