I'm not for getting rid of Fulmer...

No one. There is a cancer in this program, the only way to rid yourself of it is to cut the whole thing out.

No need to fire Hamilton. He's controled by the money boosters. If the donations start to dry up he will make a change. He'll have too. Fulmer is just a figure head. For him to be successful he needs to have top notch assistants under him. UT was successful with Coach Cut because Fulmer could not pull the strings with Cut. Cut did what he wanted to do with the offense. Why do you think he NEVER played Crompton. Cut new what this team was capable of and he designed his offense around that. If Chavis could have held up his end of the bargain UT would have been in a BCS bowl last year.

I think Chavis did alright with a very young secondary and a thin d-line. If Ainge had done his job we would've been SEC champs and played in a bcs bowl. But I agree with the rest of your post.

No need to fire Hamilton as long as he is willing to do what needs to be done. He handled the basketball hire very well, and he has administered some fine improvements to the facilities. Firing a legend who has been a part of the program most of his adult life is never an easy task, but that is why Ham is payed handsomely.

i say get rid of them all. I agree with the cancer comment. even if CPF is not good on discipline that does not meen the rest of the coaching staff can not get off the butts and straighten those guys up.

I would agree with the total house cleaning. I'm starting to lean towards getting rid of MH now. I appreciate the BP hire and some of the facility upgrades (I say some because I feel too many of the upgrades are primarily for the big money poeple and not the common fan) however I feel like he has been weak in handling the Fulmer situation.

Football isn't the only athletic program at UT, just an FYI.

I don't think there is a good way to handle the Fulmer situation. If he fires him midseason the media will jump all over Tennessee for treating their legendary coach like garbage. If he lets him play out the season, he angers the fanbase which is ready for change. It's a delicate situation, and I think Fulmer should be allowed to coach out the regular season. I believe he has given enough to the university that we can allow him three more games. Regardless of outcome or bowl bids, I think he should announce his retirement at the end of the season. If we get a bowl bid, then Fulmer should coach the team one last time, and we the fans should remember him for the good not the bad. If we don't go to a bowl this will allow him to coach out the season and leave with his and the programs dignity intact.

You can have your cake and eat it too, like Michigan did last year. Announce before the end of the season, but allow him to finish it out.

Exactly. It's not rocket science. Negotiate a retirement package and announce this week that he's retiring at the end of the season. Everyone comes out looking good. A firing is not good for anyone, Fulmer or the school. Plus, a graceful retirement might help retain most of the prospective signees.

That's a good point. If CPF said he will resign and he fully supports the university and the new head coach, maybe the recruits will go ahead and stay.

Hmmm... you may have put your finger on something pertaining to Boyd and his comments yesterday. Maybe Phil will be around during the transistion period to hang on to some recruits...???
