I'm not enthused about playing Miami-OH

You bet!! And don't forget that you are only as good as your current season. Teams getting kids for one season now in just about all sports. Everyone living for today, not yesterday or tomorrow. Pressure has been ratcheted up a couple of notches and just don't think Coach Barnes has the stamina anymore.

But hey, beat "Welcome to Miami" tonight soundly coach and ease those butterflies!! GBO!
It was the same situation last year. Give an example you have seen that would indicate he doesn't have the stamina anymore

I want a Final Four as much as anyone, but I’m not sure our fanbase really understands how much Barnes has elevated the program and how little success we had in March before he was here.
This is the eighth consecutive NCAA appearance for the Vols, extending our best streak ever. All eight trips have featured a seed of sixth or better. This gives Tennessee the co-fourth-longest active official streak in the nation (tied with Houston). Only Michigan State (28), Gonzaga (27) and Purdue (11) have longer counts.

The Volunteers are coming off back-to-back Elite Eight trips under Barnes, as we reached the Regional Final in both 2024 and 2025. Alabama and Duke are the only other programs to achieve that feat.

This is the 14th time Tennessee is seeded sixth or better in the NCAA Tournament – eight under Barnes.

Tennessee is 12-7 in tournament games under Barnes. Barnes has four more wins and two more bids than any other coach in program history.

The Vols were 19-21 in tournament games prior to Barnes.

The comparison I was thinking of was that once again the Vols have an opportunity to lose to the "darling" of the tournament as ordained by the media. You are right. Loyola has been a far better and more successful program historically than Miami. With a final four and a national championship, they've gone farther in the tournament than the Vols ever have.
Oh yeah I get that. Thankfully Cinderella lost her slipper and didn't find it.

Today we came prepared and we delivered. Jakobi played a great game today. Hit a few jumpers early and got in the zone. He has to keep working for that space. He also finished well at the rim. Our bigs played well today. JP hitting inside and Dwayne Brown and Felix played well. A good start to the tournament, I liked our energy. Nate looked out of rythmn early but he will bounce back. His main problem was handling the ball early, that had nothing to do with his ankle. But Nate is a baller, he will bounce back and it is good to see this team respond without him the way they did. In tournaments you need other guys and everybody to step up. Good game guys!!!! GBO!!!!!

Three words: Double Digit Leads. They just seem like his kryptonite this year, BK of the Volunteers. I've been a basketball fan since the NY Knicks in the late 60s and early 70s and have watched tens of thousands of college and professional games - but this year, to me, has been really hard to watch. Big leads come and go but this year, Coach Barnes just seems to have lost his touch in maintaining those leads (although last night against Miami he regained his powers). And yes, kids miss foul shots and layups and three pointers etc however, stop the game - call a time out. Make some substitutions. Pick up the pace vs slowing it down. Call some set plays but, COACH the team to a win and don't blow that large double digit lead time and time again. (OK, I'm off my soapbox)
