I'm in a weird place with my expectations for this team

If we lose it’s because they won in a shootout. They ain’t shutting our offense down lol

I kinda agree with you. I don’t feel great about tomorrows game either, but even if we lose, I still think we beat KY at home and end up 9-3. I don’t see 11-1 unless we win tomorrow in a blow-out. 10-2 is still the ceiling with a close win.
I'm the exact opposite oddly enough. I was terrified about this game till last Sat. Auburn really should have blown them out. I won't be shocked if we loose but if we do it will be because we had a bunch of turnovers and played very sloppy.

Unfortunately, I think we're going to come home with a L tomorrow. I think LSU's defense will make us one-dimensional by shutting down our run game early and I think we'll have a hard time slowing down the pass rush once that happens. On the other side of the ball, I just have no confidence in our pass defense - regardless of the opponent. I'm thinking the final score will be something like 30-27, 27-24 in favor of the Tigers.

HOWEVER

If we win tomorrow then my presumptions will have been proved wrong and my expectations for the season will shift dramatically. I'll go from thinking this is an 8-4 team to thinking this is an 11-1 team. Am I the only person who feels this way? If we can move the ball on LSU, we should be able to move the ball on UGA... and UGA's offense hasn't exactly lit up the scoreboard in recent weeks. In other words, if we win tomorrow I'm buying tickets for Atlanta. Tell me where I'm wrong
I’ll never understand where any Vols fan who knows any football whatsoever can “predict” or “feel like” we’re going to lose 4 games? I’m assuming it’s LSU/Bama/Kentucky/Georgia?… I don’t think we’ll lose to LSU, I think we win by 2 scores+, but I can understand why people would or could predict an L today…but Kentucky?? Seriously? This team? Get out

Our expectations are getting up there - not 90s level yet, but high enough that a loss today would sting pretty good. And yeah - not covering would be a major disappointment too.

LSU had a bruising game last Saturday while we got to rest up. CJH is 6-1 after open dates. An 11am kickoff that the Tigers didn't want, and their running QB may have a gimp leg. Seems like several things line up favorably for us.

31-20 (I think the under is safe unless Hendon and the O go off in a big way)

Any given Saturday…

A win today would be big, but I still think Bama and UGA are losses. So a win today would bring 9-3 within reach, and 10-2 possible. Before you call me a NegaVol, roll the clock back to December of ‘20, and then look at how far this program has come in 17 games. 9-3 would still be a good problem to have.

Go Vols.

This team has fueled my optimism with their heart and the level of Coaching coming from Coach Heupel and his coaching staff.

I stopped reading after the 1st sentence..Our 1 dimensional passing game can do some damage ……like to see O line step up
coupla screens, halfback swing /quick screen should slowem down.
can’t turn the ball over and no big returns…Gonna be colorful

I’m thinking about the game in the opposite direction. I think unknowingly Coach Kelly put a lot of pressure on Daniels. He said his throwing numbers are low in the 1st&3rd quarters. He attributes that to him being too careful. When he was asked about his zero interceptions. I think this will make Daniels think even more and cause turnovers early. JMO

IMHO we don’t have the depth (and 4 and 5 stars) that Bama and GA have. I’d be elated to go 2-2 vs the BIG 4 left on our schedule (LSU, Bama, GA, and KY).

I have a weird take on the Vol season. First of all I don't know a cornerback from a chicken back but I am passionate about the Vols. I don't think we're ready for overconfidence. This has been a season for vanquishing ghosts of the past. First Pitt and then Florida. Every game should be approached with the attitude of a mountain climber. Each win over an elite team should be celebrated. Today along with Alabama and Georgia are those type of games. Each victory will bring healing for TDS(Tennessee Derangement Syndrone). We have hit the jackpot with Heupel, Hooker and Joe in the wings. I will be pacing today and praying for a 41-37 win. Take care and God Bless Vol fans and try to go to church Sunday!

I'm not sure LSU is the real test for fantasizing about an eleven-win season. How we play next week should tell us where we're at and whether we belong in championship conversations.
