Are you talking about a wireless adapter?

I assume you are having your xbox get the ip address from the router? You you have DHCP turned on on your router? Do you have any other wireless devices you are using? Do you have any encryption set?

when I run the test, my network adapter is good, wireless network is connected and once it get to IP address it says failed. I click on more info and it says that "your console was unable to negotiate a lease with your DHCP server. Make sure that addresses are available on your server:sad:

DHCP is a setting on your router that allows it to give out ip addresses. I would assume if you have a wireless laptop you have DHCP turned on unless you have a static ip address setup on your laptop.

Encryption would be a password type string that you setup on your wireless computer and the router. It's used so that others can't use your wireless connection.

In your wireless settings I assume you have the default gateway setup as the address of your router?

i'm not sure, but how would I turn that off so my 360 can read my ip address?

Do you know the ip address of your router and are you using that in your xbox setup as the gateway?
