My wife and I are going on a cruise in February, carnival cruise line. I've gone once when I was a teenager, so I'm a little out of practice. Need some tips... dinner, alcohol, and anything someone could offer up.
I appreciate your suggestions and advice in advance.

Personally, I like the later dinner so you aren't rushing to get back if you get off the boat.

There's a million ways to sneak alcohol on, constantly changing, so google that. Don't sneak anything you aren't willing to lose. Honestly, if you're only good for a drink or two a night, just buy the damn things. Unless something has changed, you can each bring 1 bottle of wine.

What ports are you stopping at?

That link is the carnival things you can or can't being on board. You and your wife can bring one 750ml bottle of wine or champagne on.

We choose anytime dining. Around 5 the pools empty and can be enjoyed then go eat around 8.

We are leaving out of Ft. Lauderdale and stopping in Cozumel, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman. I appreciate y'all's input. Thank you.

I've looked at that, I guess $50 a day isn't bad because I know we'll easily do that.

It is $50 a days and both occupants of the room are required to purchase it. I think you get 15 drinks a day.... I personally sneak mine on and have always got it on. Saves me a boat load of money as I enjoy many many drinks a day

Considering a ice bucket of 5 beers is over 20 bucks it is the best deal.

I would bypass wearing the patch behind the ear. The side affect of them is nausea which is what it's suppose to help. Dramamine (non-drowsey) work the best for our family.

How do you sneak your booze on?

Get the faster to the fun pass, only need to buy one and well worth it. If the boat has the pasta bar go there when you get on board and don't fight the lines on the Lido for food. Buy the drink package. Have fun and remember any day on a cruise is better than the best day at work.

Saw a family bring a rolling duffel bag into an elevator after we all boarded. They just happened to open it up and it was filled with canned soda drinks. My jaw dropped and I was thinking, why the hell didn't we do that. I've got no clue how they got that through but I'd try it for the cost of 4 12 packs.

Carnival employees were straight up nazi's about their soft drinks. They won't just give you a can they'll pour what will fit into a plastic cup with ice and keep what's left in the can behind the counter for the next guest.

Another suggestion: if you like the slot machines, play them early as in the first two days then stop.

I read up on it and many people were saying the laws/rules for casinos dont apply to boats since they open in international waters. Said to play early as the slots get tight with the theory that if players win early they'll keep playing and others will play too. I went on a 4 day back in August and tried the theory. First two nights bells were ringing everywhere. Throw a 20 in and hit for 100. Heck, my wife even won 200 off penny slot. By the last night you couldnt get a wild fruit to payback your bet. I think one time we put in 100 on one of the hot machines from before and never won a thing.

And personally, I dont ever bring stuff on with me. IMO, its too much hassle for a "free" drink. I dont drink in my room so its more of a hassle to go from the decks to the room to mix another one. But that's just me. Its vacation and I budget to indulge myself on things that I dont do when I'm at home. Sitting in my chair next to the pool having Achmed bringing me $6 beers and I dont have to get up is worth every penny. I'll walk to the fridge at home.
