I'm getting tired of losing "ALL the CLOSE GAMES"!

All I ask is a little "Killer Instinct" attitude as to when we have them down, play smart and put them away, finish the job!

I just hope this doesn't start some kind of mental block, where they tighten up in the last 3 minutes of a game, make poor shooting decisions (I am looking at you JaJuan Smith), blow it on defense, and continually miss free throws. Youth is a major factor, lets not forget that, but fundamentals win games, and making free throws, taking good shots, and working the ball around, are essentials and should already be engrained in the kids.

You can't defend bad play. But when you lose Asumnu, Patterson, Watson, and yes Wingate, it hurts. Maybe last year came too quick for some of us. We can not have high expectations yet. That only leads to discouragement and anger. Two years ago we were 14-17. I am afraid to look at the past records. Let all these young guys grow a little. Maybe next year, but two or three, the sky is the limit!!!!!!

Don't give up of these guys yet. This is the SEC and anyone can beat you at their place. I don't care who you are. I admit I was as mad as anyone listening last night. But these guys have talent. They will make some mistakes and lose some games they are supossed to win. But they will win a few they are supposed to lose. I think we will be around in March. We will not be a #2 seed. But I am not going to give up this easy. Not on BP he has already proved what he can do with these guys.

fine, maybe I can help. I grew up on Louisville Basketball for one I live here, and we could never get Tennessee basketball on TV. I became a Vol football fan around 8 because of all the trips to Gatlinburg (and Bill Dance shows). I live in basketball country, but UT has all the ingredients. Now, after my life story, I can give you some insight. Don't shoot me for saying this, but I always compared UT basketball to UK football. Great facilities and fans that want the program to succeed. All was needed was a coach to lead it. WE HAVE HIM!!!! The biggest arena in college ( Carrier Dome is a football stadium cut in half in my opinion), and obviously fans that want it. Coach Pearl had two missions. Make UK a rivalry again, and fill up TBA. He has accomplished that last year, which is why we can't get over anxoius just yet, referring to my first post on this subject. We had personnel losses hard to overcome and young folks. March is what counts! Last year we won alot early and got tired and lost towards the end. Lose early and learn from it now, may help. I just was hoping this year would prove last year wasn't a fluke. It's proved positive! Keep expectations low and enjoy the excitement now, then who knows what lies down the line for the Basketball VOlS!! That is my insight. Sorry to bore you!

You don't have to be an "insider" to be able to see that we are in a slump. Losing streaks happen to teams, especially when there is not a lot of experience playing together.

The three losses we've had are easily explainable. Free throws are the major factor, but there is also the fact that as a rule, younger players simply do not play well on the road, especially UT.

We played awful at the Garden, pretty badly in Lafayette, streaky in Memorial, pretty bad at OSU, and streaky at Auburn. The reason why? Immaturity and patience. Those two go hand in hand.

At home, we have the crowd to get the adreneline pumping if we aren't playing well, whereas away, we don't. In the OSU and Texas games, we very well should have lost the way we were playing, but the kids just started rolling. That is how this team is going to be until they learn each other's games.

If you watch UF, you can see the players click because of their knowledge and trust of each other. It will take some time to develop that syncness, but remember 4 of the 9 guys that play regularly have only played college basketball for a semester, give them some time and it will pay off.

I'm too tired and lazy to read this thread so let me respond to the title. First of all, would it be better to lose the games by a blowout? Next, we have a bunch of young guys on the team and the season is young. Lastly, as my teenage daughter would say, "Whateverrrrrrrrrrr!!". :neener:
