We'll see how it goes.

Current possibilities:

'97 Audi A4 1.8T
'94 Nissan 240SX convertable (which I will convert to m/t soon)
'95 Nissan 240SX (long shot but if I can sell my Mazda...)
'04 Honda Civic Si
'89 Mazda RX-7 convertable (a cool all-black 'vert with like 70k miles on it - def. a good find)

That must be the first year of the A4 1.8T - I had a 98.

The best part of the RX-7 is getting to say Wankel

Yeah, '97 was the first year for the A4. Everybody is finally dumping them. AWD turbo for cheap.

Right now I'm leaning towards that 240SX convertable. There were only 8,000 of them ever made in the world... And probably only 800-1,000 manual ones are in existence. Plus, reliable, low mileage, workable, babe-magnet, etc.

I'd buy a Miata as a 3rd car. Probably one of the most underrated sports cars of all-time. I would never hear the end of it though from my friends if I rolled up in an MX-5 every day, though... They're great cars. But style-wise... They're chick cars. As far as Beamers go, I've never really been overly impressed with them. Usually flashy numbers for idiots who read the brochure, buy one them fancy themselves serious automotive enthusiasts. No, not really... You just overpaid ten thousand dollars for a car.

Gotta totally disagree on the BMW - nothing I've driven (save a Porsche) has the road feel of a BMW.

I've had 2 of the e30 style (3 series from 84-91). These cars are probably the best value of all time - great handling, acceptable power, great ergonomics etc. Check out Ebay - all kinds of these cars going strong at 250K miles.

I've had Civic Si's, Lexus', Nissan, Toyota and while each is more reliable overall - none drive like a BMW.

BTW - I've had 2 Audi's and while I think they are great cars as well, the BMW's have a better road feel.

Well yeah, Beamers have better road feel -- they're rear wheel drive, Audis are all wheel. They will understeer. I've driven a good number of beamers. Coupes, convertables, sedans. 3 series to 7 series. Six to ten cylinders. They are good cars, don't get me wrong, and if somebody threw me a 3 series at a decent price I might even take it. But they just ain't my favorite cars out there.

Word up.

Plus, with weather conditions being what they are in Oregon, AWD is a smart choice. Not to mention dragability. I have seen a Mitsubishi Evolution and a Suburu WRX both destroy a Ferrari in a street drag. If that doesn't speak to the drag prowess of AWD, I don't know what does.

I love the A4 - great car.

Personally, I'm not a street racer. I prefer the twisties or autocross.

Oh, I loves some autox. I'm all about the Touge. There are litterally hundreds of miles of "twisties" in the hills between northwest Portland and Astoria. They are my playground, nothing but miles upon miles of unadulterated mountain driving goodness.

Today so far:
This AM cleaned out my side of the closet and took a load of clothes to the Salvation Army.
Went by Sam's Club for lunch (free samples) and bought 2 bottles generic "Aleve".
This PM no sports on TV worth watching so I watched a video of the Memphis game.
Took a nap.
Had dinner a few minutes ago. Dinner included a steak so tough I could have used it to patch a busted tractor tire.
Opened my last beer...and it was flat!
Getting ready to watch "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."
And you guys think you lead an exciting life. I'm glad tommorow's sunday so I can wind down before going back to work.
