Please someone smack me.

I work for the radio station here in town and got a ad for our Trading Post program. It was a Nintendo Wii bundle including:

Wii system
2 regular controllers
2 nunchucks
2 battery chargers

5 games including:

Mario Galaxy
Wii Play
Wii Sports
Super Smash Brothers
My Sims Life - or something like that

Called the guy and they were asking $400 for all of it. Told him I'd think about it and call him back. When I got home I told my wife who has been wanting a Wii forever and she wigged out and said "CALL THE GUY BACK NOW!!!" I did and he said someone else had just called him and was getting it.

I already have an Xbox 360 and PS3 (which I never play) and had never really wanted a Wii. But after playing it at a friends house with the wife we both enjoyed the simplicity and fun of it and decided we would get one eventually. Then I have a chance to get all of that for $400 and pass it up. MORON

Me and the lady bought a Wii and games for our kids this Christmas, yesterday.

Wii System
4 Controllers
4 Nunchucks
1 Battery Charger
2 Mariokart Wheels

Games: Mariokart Wii, Wii Music, Wii Play, Wii Sports, Pirates of the Caribbean (daughter loves the movies), Ben 10 (son into this stuff).

All together we spent $681 on it. I thought we came out alright.

I just missed out on an Ebay auction yesterday for a Wii - this is the way I'm going to go.

It was a Wii system
2 nunchucks
3 Wii motes
2 Classic controllers
2 Wheels
1 Guitar

Wii Sports
Wii Play
Guitar Hero III
Mario Kart
Mario Party 8
Zelda
SSX Snowboarding

and 2 more games I can't think of right now and it went for $380. I'm not used to bidding on things on Ebay or I would have got it. I didn't realize that I could put my maximum bid in and it wouldn't automatically go up to my maximum at that time. Had my sister who is an Ebay expert show me how to properly use it. I'll be shopping around again tonight....

Well that guy from my original post called me back last night and said the other guy didn't come to pick it up. He wants to meet me in town Saturday for that original deal. He asked if I would bring it to him in cash. Would you all recommend any suggestions as to how, if any way, to protect myself if the system doesn't work and he just vanishes like smoke in the wind? I don't think it will happen but these are desparate economic times for alot of people and I wouldn't put it past someone to try to do something like that. I wanted to give him a check and then if it wasn't good I could stop payment on it and lose $25.

I can see his side too but I told him he could call and verify that I do indeed work for a bank and a radio station. I wouldn't ever dream of screwing anyone over myself but am afraid of just forking over $400 cash without seeing that all of the stuff works too.

Suggestions?

Meet him at his/your house if at all possible, have him plug it in and make sure everything works properly.
