I don't understand the staying up later part. I go to bed by 7 or 8 each night and I feel it's the smart thing to do.

I'm not stressed when I wake up in the mornings, I build more muscle, and just overall feel healthier.

Well, that tells us a bit about your biases. I'm not endorsing the study, but they make good points. Not sure about the data, as I don't care to get into the nitty gritty of it.

I don't think it's saying it's the smart thing to do, it's just saying smart people do it.

I agree that going to bed by a decent hour is the smart thing to do, but it's not what I did in college (and I believe the study only observed college students).

Here's my theory on all of it. Being atheist or smoking weed doesn't make you smarter, it's just the nature of people who buck the system to be smarter. You can be the smartest person and believe in God, but the dumb people who never really think to question God or drug law are bringing down the average intelligence of the believers and the drug-free crowd.
