If you were the new coach?

I'd keep CPF as the Asst AD for Athletic Affairs (Recruiting Specialist)

I'd keep Scott... no doubt there since it sounds like he's the guy who can recruit even now. Clawson's job rests on the balance of the season and what he do with it. If he stays, then I'd let him do his own staffing.

If I'm the AD and it looks like Clawson is worth keeping, I'd look for a defensive-minded HC with Saban being the best role model available. If there really is a chance of getting Pete Caroll, I'd offer him everything up to and including the UT President's job.:)

The NCAA has limits on how many coaches a team can have.

How many are teams allowed? I only added one more coach than the Vols currently have. If I need to decrease my staff by one, I would hire Bill Bates to be my ST and defensive secondary coach.

Fire everybody and start over. Inform every player that his job is up for grabs. You don't perform, you don't play. Throw away the green jersey. Can't get it done in practice, you can't get it done on game day. Miss a tackle, you run a mile. Miss a blocking assignment, you run a mile. Fumble the ball, I break my foot off in your John Brown hind parts. And then you run a mile.

I don't think it's too out of the realm of possiblity that if Fulmer goes out on his own terms that he takes a place in the administration. He genuinely wants the best for the program but his coaching pride won't allow him to leave with the program in a mess. If he willingly steps down it's not a bad idea to have him hanging around for recruiting purposes. Just keep him away from the offensive playbook.........
