how would you set up the "D" against UK? Having watched UT play pretty good "D" against teams that focus on running the ball, I have also seen the "D" look totally lost when playing teams in the spread offense, i.e. Florida, Bama, Cal, SC in the 2nd half. I expect UK to show a spread most of the time next week since this is clearly UT's weakness.

Our D line is not going to put enough pressure on Woodson all by itself. I'm thinking that blitzing the hell out of them might be the only way to rattle him somewhat and force them to run. Yeah, we may get burned deep once or twice, but if he has all day to throw, he is going to burn us anyway. Maybe we can blitz Hefney since he doesn't seem to be doing a lot of pass protection back there anyway.

Or we could simply do what Georgia did in the 2nd half of this weekend's game whatever that was.

Whatever we do, I hope the DB's don't play soft on the receivers like they did against Bama. I think they should defend aggressively and tight, and if they get burned, they get burned. Playing soft is simply going to hand UK points. Just takes a little longer that way.

We should be aggressive and let our athletes make plays. Too much thinking seems to get us in trouble.

I wish he would blitz more....

Is our front four just so slow this year that we rarely get pressure?

Word, with the emphasis on agressiveness. It's ultimately important to pressure Woodson. We cannot afford to let him have all day to find a receiver.

KY has a pair of good receivers to....got to pressure and be aggressive as Gman Jack said...

If they try to blitz, they'd better hit Woodson because if they don't he'll eat us alive. As bad as we've been at getting to the QB, I'd almost play cover-2 all day and make them work.

Woodson is a bit like Ainge in the fact that he doesn't look "natural" in the pocket under a lot of pressure. He hastens his throws. We have to have our LBs on blitz, and maybe throw Hefney in there every once in a while. I'm sure, well... I hope that Chavis is studying tape.



But whatever tapes that Chavis is studying, UK's D-Coordinator will be studying similiar tapes to see what works against Ainge.

We need to jam the receivers at the line of scrimmage to throw off the timing of the routes. That should give our guys up front more time to pressure Woodson. We should be smart as to how and when to blitz Woodson. He is a senior and knows what to expect. Randy Sanders will have him prepared for whatever blitz packages Tennessee will throw at him. It is imperative that we tackle well. Our best defense might be a possession offense.

I honsetly don't believe Kentucky will be able to get the same amount of pressure on Ainge as Vandy did.

I was talking more specifically about prior times in the season where Ainge has been pressured. But I saw the USC game and saw that Woodson can easily be flustered. Maybe that's changed, but I would rather pressure him than hope that our secondary can cover their WRs and TEs for 6 seconds. Because we know that our D-Line can't do it all by themselves.

I'd be damned if I set back and let somebody pick me apart. If he's gonna beat me, he's gonna have to do it with somebody in his face. That's what I'd do.

I would send Mccoy and Mayo on blitzes, and try to get them in third and long much like UGA did. They shut down the run and pressured woodson constantly. I might even bring out the prowler if we stop the run and force them into third and long situations.

Did Little play in the UGA game? If he didn't, that may explain how they were able to shut down their running game...

I don't know what the stats were, but Little played and I think got a pretty good number of carries.

Yeah, Bennett and the other guy didn't play the second half.

Vandy just scored their first td to go ahead 7-6 and Bennett was in the game so we'll see how he got put out.

I think he took a shot after a catch over the middle and then he went down hard on his lower back.

I remember that. It was technically the fall that put him out, but Berry sent him down really hard.

There it was. The fall is what got him, but the shot from Berry was harder than I remembered.
