If we're 1-4 what happens? 5-1 what happens?

Let's say something crazy happened and we're sitting at 1-4 after the Georgia game.

What do you think would happen coach wise? Everyone safe and secure?

Would it be immediate? After the season? Given one more year?

I'm forever the optimist so let's be fair and say we're 5-1 after the Georgia game. Then what happens coach-wise.

If we have 3 losses after Georgia, which I think we will, Fulmer will be in serious danger... Safe and secure with 1 win, are you kidding?

Even if we go winless, I don't see Fulmer being fired mid-season. I could also see him not being fired even if he went sub-.500.

However, like I've said, if Hamilton is going to fire Fulmer, Jan. 8, 2008 is the time to do it. Ainge is gone, and we're going to be with a lot of young talent anyways.

1-4 We're in good shape to get a new coach

5-1 and we're on our way to 9-4

Although no one has posted it yet, anyone who hopes for UT to collapse entirely just to get a coaching change deserves a butt-kicking.

I agree, unless the season is a total loss.

If TN's 3-4 or something of the sort...then let's put the dog out of it's misery...we'll gain nothing by winning at the point, we'll gain more by losing out

...but not when we're 0-1...too early for that

If we start 1-4 I will personally start interviewing candidates in my garage.

If the Vols have 3 losses after UGA (my pick), you can BANK on it....a'int no way Bama loses. Saban will have that game circled as one of the winnables in his first season, and will have them ready, regardless of any talent gaps.

Bottom line: UT loses to Florida, the axle begins rattling. Lose to UGA at home, the wheels come off on the Hill. Bama will smell blood, and it could get ugly with their offense.

i agree that anyone who hopes we lose in order to facilitate a changing of the guard is not a UT fan, but rather a fly by night, "passer by" type fan.

well I cheered for TN to lose down the stretch of Buzz's last year because it was better for TN....and we're not doing too bad now

people get tired of slop

1-4: people still cry about firing fulmer despite this being almost impossible. 2-3 is more likely.

5-1: people still cry about firing fulmer. we have the SEC East locked up, we're obviously good enough to run the table if we beat florida and uga.....and the uncanny pessimists will still say we're going to finish 9-4 despite beating florida and georgia. LOL!!

Suddenly since there was now way we could beat those two teams, ideas will shift to there being no way we can beat anyone else suddenly despite winning 5 in a row and two against two of the better teams on our schedule. haha

It's a lose lose situation. We could win out and end up in the Sugar Bowl and people would still cry foul and want Fulmer's head along with whining about why we weren't 12-0 and playing for the National Championship.

If we win out and go to the Sugar Bowl, I give you my personal promise not to whine about not being 12-0 and in the Nat'l Champ game.

hahaha....I didn't say it was going to happen, just that if it did.....We could have those 3 losses people think we'll have and still go to the Sugar Bowl. Not likely, but about as likely as going 5-7 as some think. haha

I agree with that, at mid-season, you get an interim head coach at best.

I'll lay off Fulmer when we win an SEC championship. An East Title that ends in a 3 or 4 loss season and no SEC championship won't do it for me.
