If we win, LOU loses, and they are ranked higher than us...

I don't think so. If Louisville loses to Virginia, they drop a lot. They're completely out of the hunt for the playoffs, and the poll voters will dump them accordingly.

We would need a convincing win. Imo

A loss to UVA will drop them a lot. That's an inexcusable loss for a supposed top 5 team. Hell it's inexcusable for a top 20 team.

Playoff rankings out Tuesday.

Several teams above us likely / possibly lose.

Convincing win against USCjr

I like our chances. Even if it doesn't matter a whole lot.

None of which will matter. Selection committee doesn't care about rankings.

Selection committee is influenced by rankings along with the rest of the nation.

Tell you what, when the first rankings come out Tuesday, count the # of teams who are more than three spots away from their position in the AP and Coaches' polls. There won't be many.

The AP and Coaches polls have been driving the discussion for 9 weeks now, and all of America who are paying attention to college football are influenced by them, both directly and subjectively.

I see us in the top 10 again. We should climb one stop each of the remainder of the weeks of this season.
Then we will hit the top 10 and will fall again should we drop the SECCG

As long as we win out, our rise in the polls from this point on will be driven more by who loses above us, than by what we do. *shrug* just how it works.

p.s. One loss that can make more difference than all the others: the sooner Florida loses a game, the better for us. As soon as we're back in control of our destiny, the voters have to take more seriously our potential as SEC champs ... that will give us more buoyancy than we'd have with Florida in the driver's seat in the East.
