Does another loss mean anything any more or is Pruitt secure until next year? I am thinking Fulmer had to have an inside track on these recent firings. He is under more pressure now. What's the upside to waiting until next year? What's the downside?

With all due respect Fulmer IS NOT making the decision. It's the boosters as it's always been. The Haslam's have largely sat aside for the last few years but they may come back around sooner than later. There are people definitely in their ear right now. Fulmer knows where his bread is buttered and he's going to do what they tell him to do. He also won't have any say on who the replacement coach will be when it comes right down to it.

Auburn just beat Mississippi State and Malzahn got fired. We just beat a Vandy team that is way worse than Mississippi State. A&M is going to ream us next week. Can't we terminate Pruitt and just get it over with? Fire Pruitt on Monday and announce Freeze as new head coach on Tuesday. Merry Christmas!

Right you are.
The boosters that donate to pay the HC salary and his inevitable buyout pick the coach.
Fulmer just did as told hiring Pruitt. Same with the raise and extension.
His predecessor went off the reservation, was recalled and fired.
The BOT, President, and Chancellor will fire a hundred ADs before allowing one to piss off a major donor. They, for sure, know where the butter hits the bread.

Fulmer hasn’t had the inside track in a couple of decades. We are screwed again.

Fulmer won't do anything after Texas A & M sets a new scoring record in Neyland Saturday afternoon to make some highlight footage to show with the Alabama romp 225 to the south. Fulmer's mouth cut a deal his department can no longer afford to get out of and the only thing worse would be another goat roping for a coaching search.

I have an idea, why don't we cancel A&M and fly the team to Atlanta on Saturday to challenge Saban and Mullen to a winner take all round robin. When those two little sissies decline then we can declare a moral victory and claim the 2020 SEC title all our own, by default. Ya'll aren't thinking hard enough.

If we lose to the #5 ranked team in the country, will it make a difference in our coaching decision? Really?

Who writes these jokes?

UT is currently ranked around #90+/-

So, #5 vs #90...... so, I'll go out on a limb and say, no.

Pruitt will coach UT in 2021. I hate that fact but here we are. He MAY very well coach in 2022 AND 2023. By then, I assume, most VolNation folks will have cynicism levels to match any Detroit Lions fan and be needing liver transplants from cirrhosis.

It shows the gap between a good coach, Jimbo Fisher, and Pruitt.

The mental wheels are really coming off around here lately

They won’t make a move on Pruitt.

Apparently the only “must wins” the university puts on this dude is against squads with half depleted rosters and generationally bad seasons.

Can’t apply standards against teams we’d have to actually play well to win against.

If? Seriously, I'd love nothing more than to see us surprise them however if Jimbo is worth his salt he'll have them razor sharp to pile on the points to impress the committee. I don't know that a loss moves the fan opinion needle that much further down but based on the reaction to a win over hapless Vandy, a win should cool Pruitt's seat considerably.
