If the D improves greatly today under Dools, he should be fired immediately for no other reason than waiting until game 10 to make the change.

Phil didn't get a pass on dave clawsen

I'm sure some would say he should have. Either way I don't see the D improving. I don't see how our DB's falling down on every deep ball can be changed with different plays. Maybe different cleats.

with a loss today we are on the brink of going home yet again for the second straight year...so a loss pretty much means DD will be dismissed by Monday plain and simple...so meaning we CANNOT lose to vandy NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!

Yeah I'm not sure if CDD hired Sal...I think Hart had a big hand in getting Sal here. I think Steele was CDDs man and Hart shot that down after Clemson's poor defensive showing in one game...one game! Nevermind his body of work and excellent recruiting skills, one bad game and it cost him a job and maybe cost TN a much better D and maybe one or 2 more wins this year...We will never know

Not putting our slow dbs in man to man situations with one safety would be a helpful start

It's always on all the coaches but never on the players here on VN, LOL!

The ONLY things coaches can do is teach, train and keep teaching the same things over and over again until the players finally learn it.

Maybe it's the Defense players.

The 3-4 D is very complicated and detailed and in the NFL it takes them 2 years to get it down with a 3-4 and the NFL practices 10 to 12 hours per day and our kids don't get 1/2 that amount of time to learn it all and get comfortable with it.

Just maybe our kids aren't smart enough to learn so much in this short amount of time.

Most people around here forget that these kids are also students so they also have classes to attend and homework to get done and have to take time to study so they can actually keep their grades up to a certain standard or else they will NOT be on the team and I don't think all our kids live and breathe nothing but football 24 hours per day since they also need some time for a real life for themselves.

We fans sure do expect and demand an aweful lot from these kids just so we can have fun watching a GAME once a week.

Lighten up people and give our coaches and kids the time they must have to get it all down pat because when they do we'll see a Tennessee Defense that kicks butt just like you see at Notre Dame and Bama.

It's a football GAME and it's certainly NOT life and death.....or maybe it is for those of us that bleed Tennessee Orange, LOL!

So play zone , where there's a mental breakdown every single play with someone running 30 yards wide open? To answer your question though, if it improves he gets some credit, if it doesn't then he shouldnt be blamed for something that's a wreck for months and he's trying to fix it in 1 week.

I agree that all the coaches can do is coach the players the right thing to do. It IS on the coaches to bench the players who do not learn these things. IF a coach continues to send the player out on the field knowing they will fail, it is on the coaches 100%.

Dooley timed this move to defense at this time for a reason. We should out talent Mizzou, Vandy, and UK by quite a bit. He is rolling the dice the defense makes him look good(or at least better) so as to try and save his job. He knew better than to move to help the defense with Troy. He saw that trainwreck coming from a mile away. Dooley should be fired even if the defense holds the next 3 teams we play to less than 100 total yards a game. Typical Dooley coaching. Beat up on the lil guys and get smashed by anyone who matters.

All the blame on Dooley. He's the head coach.

No praise, I'll be pizzed he didn't get involved like before week 1.

Since he said he would be working with them he should get some credit either way. I don't think you can make a huge difference in one week and I don't think Missouri is a great offensive team so we should be able to hold them to thirty. I think what it looks like is we need a different DC regardless because Dooley shouldn't have to coach the defense for them to get better.

If we can keep Missou under 500 yards 65% of winning.
under 600 yards 50%
under 700 yards 30%

They have a much better defense than Troy, so we have to step it up today. Our D needs to attack that beat up O-line and try to confuse them.

So by your logic CDD should just bench every player that doesn't know everything, LOL!

No rotation at all since you benched most Defense players, LOL.

Nobody gets a breather or any rest at all so by the 2nd quarter our Defense is gassed and Mizzou scores on 2 plays every time they get the ball, LOL.

Just bench them all and if we have to play only 7 guys on Defense the whole game that's your logic, LMAO!!!

You're not very logical but at least you make lots of us laugh alot, LMAO!!!!!

Definitely one of my favorite posts on this forum so far. It's nice to see some optimism on VN. I think a lot of "fans" on here need to learn some patience and also be more considerate the changes that have been occurring with our program rather than somehow turning every possible thing into "fire Dooley" or "if not for Dooley doing *this".

It's time for the real fans to shout out some support and all the fair weather fans to go jump on the bama wagon.

Go Vols!
