It'll be by a dual threat QB, I've watched a lot of football and we need a dual threat Qb.. Hell, Peyton couldn't get it done, and Tee made it happen!

Tee had a D. He didn't do anything overly special, he played great dont get me wrong, but wasn't a game changer. Stoerner was our best player that year.

And who would you want then??? Riley Ferguson is pretty mobile for next year but will be a freshman...and accuracy issues. What we need is some better COACHING!!!! and maybe a new defense! :salute:

I really want a dual threat Coach. One that can actually coach the players the fundamentals AND be able to make adjustments during the game.

I think peterman could make a coach(malzahn) proud!

Our O is putting up 40 a game so I think we are ok there.

What about the D? You got any ideas for that group?

I am not convinced Tennessee wants a winning football program. Nice facilities doesn't get it done any longer. Look at our recruiting classes. Not loaded with 5 star athletes .

Also, we have one coming up. Peterman is supposedly a mobile but throw first QB.

This is what I'm talking about, get the right personnel in here to put peterman in the best position to win!

AND OFCOURSE I WANT SOMETHING DONE ABOUT OUR DEFENSE! I thought that went without saying..

I understand clearly what you are saying. Everybody should know the D has to be fixed. But having a QB that can pull it down moves the chains and works the clock when the passing lanes are clogged. Tee did that. The D's could not factor it in. It was a major factor in the NC season. Want to see that ability back there as well.

But…you don't think a dual QB wouldve stopped Troys offense?

Yeah, my bad.

So what if....our O stays intact next year (for the most part) and we somehow field a D that only gives up 30 a game (still sux but a vast improvement). Sure Bama will beat us, but other than that we're in every game.

Pure, unadulterated hogwash. There is nothing sacred about a dual-threat quarterback per se. We have enjoyed great success with mobile QBs (Shuler and Martin) and pure dropback passers (Manning). Tee certainly made a significant contribution to winning the '98 title, but that team was significantly stronger on both sides of the line of scrimmage than the previous year's squad. You want proof? The '97 team scored 411 points, the '98 team 408. The '97 team, however, ran for 1813 yds. and 13 tds, whereas the '98 team ran for a SEC-best 2,536 yds. and 27 tds (http://www.utsports.com/sports/m-footbl/guides/2012/records.pdf ). The '97 team gave up 244 points. By contrast, the '98 team surrendered only 173 points.

If you want to know who deserves the most credit for that championship, I would point the finger squarely at Al Wilson's leadership and the overall performance of the defense. Strong running game and defense, particularly against the run, has been a winning formula in the SEC for an awfully long time. That formula is what Alabama's current success is predicated upon. Although he might not enjoy doing so, Neyland would certainly give his stamp of approval to 'Bama's current style of play.

Your an idiot. The top 5 qbs in the NFL are all pocket passers and what we need is a defense, Our offense is fine.

Well said. Stats, in this case, don't lie.
