Ok, no one is even considering this because of obvious reasons, but IF he get some actual production from Poole to help and has a good game against LSU and wins, will he beat the starter for the rest of the season? Oddly enough, the run game was better with him under center last year....maybe because that is all we had to really rely on I dunno....but I have this strange feeling we are going to give LSU a game this weekend. Simms looked good on last TD drive against UGA and we all know he is tough as nails and has a lot of good experience against fierce Ds. He could be a Greg Mcelroy type of QB IMO.

But if he beats LSU and plays well enough against the next three opponents to not be blamed for a loss, does he win the starting job?

I say if he's hot and wins some big games, there will be problems. You have to go with the hot QB. Either one of them can beat the cupcakes, but if Simms beats LSU and Bama or at least plays up to a nailbiter in either or both, it will be hard not to keep him in because of his production.

He already has the starting job for every game but the Kentucky/bowl game.
If he's playing lights out then let him start.
If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Bray will probably miss the rest of the season anyway so yes. IF Bray can come back sometime this year he's back in

Bray has the better arm, but I agree if the team starts playing well and Simms is managing/leading the offense successfully he will remain the starter though a bowl game.

With the way Simms holds on to the football, I would be shocked if he survives the next two weeks.

Not a chance. Bray can hand off just as good as Simms but Bray can throw the ball much better than Simms.

I don't think it matters how many games we win with Simms - Bray will be the starter. Why would you leave in an inferior QB. None of the losses we've had so far has anything to do with Bray's performance.

That is what worries me. Might just see Worley before it's all said and done. Although if Simms is one thing he's a tough son of a gun. He took some shots last year that i didn't think he'd get up from.

If we even have a small chance of beating LSU with a Simms I hope we have improved a hell of alot since the Georgia game. Did you guys forget what happened last week?

Sometimes it is less about the individual performance and more about how the team responds to his leadership. If Simms is able to elevate the Os performance high enough to compete and win a few big games, CDD may see that as more important than Brays better arm.

You talking about him scoring the only touchdown or the 19 yard pass on a 4th and 16?

I kid...the grounding call did suck.

Simms is tough..he is a NFL mould QB..just needs to work on a faster release and he can be deadly..he is pretty accurate and has good read..

This is like the 10th post where I've seen Simms and NFL in the same sentence.

The kid gives his all for UT.. but what the hell are you guys on?

I dunno...you never know, if we contain Ware, I could see a low scoring game.....seems like to me the UGA loss was more about bad pass interference calls and that one bad snap right after halftime that all combined to kill our momentum more so than anything else. Take away those bad PI calls and Bray probably had 2 TDs and we would have taken a lead into the half. If LSU has a bad game and we have a good game we can certainly beat them. I am excited to see how well Simms has progressed since last year in which he was thrown to the wolves and playing behind a terrible line pass protection wise.

Another thing, Simms has good arm strength. He just held on to the ball too long....but that was mental and he very well could have improved since then in that aspect and the oline is providing much better protection at this point than it was at this time last season.

Got to run the ball or the chances are 0% of winning. I would love to see it happen but you have to be realistic. LSU is 1 for a reason and you can bet they remember what happened last year. Either way I'll be wearing my orange with pride and praying for Simms. I'm thinking he will be on the turf quite often.
