What does CJH do? I think he sees he's building something and the amount of money the unveristy is pouring in if he stays. As I said before and ate my crow I want him to stay. We have something special working here let's keep it going, We will see and it might take 3 years but our program will be leaps and bonds better than it is now. Recruiting will be a key but also the portal and JUCO is also a way to go but recruiting is your life blood even if they can't come in and help out in short term but long term is where we are aiming.

It’s been discussed a good bit on here. To summarize the general conclusions:

-Oklahoma will go for a bigger fish
-Heupel has some bad blood with Oklahoma over how his departure went down
-Oklahoma is coming to the SEC, so it would basically be a lateral move at that point.

Ain’t happening.

If he leaves then he leaves it’s not like he has been here long enough to establish anything really but I don’t think we would have to worry about that cause I doubt Oklahoma would be interested in him unless he had big success here.

I think OK would have to go way down their list to call the Hype.

OK Sooners Scapegoated him and you never forget that. He thinks like a coach now, and not a player. We think like fans. We believe coaching your alma mater is the top of the mountain of coaching. CJH might not feel that way now. I suspect he feels like he is weaving himself into the foundations of UT football lore. He was an outsider and now he is not.
Let us not jump to conclusions.
I think Heupel is very content and enjoying his position very much.

I think he stays here even if Oklahoma comes calling. I’m hoping he believes enough in what he and Danny White are building here to want to see it come to fruition. The fact OU gave him a raw deal when he was on staff there would hopefully work in our favor as well.

Tennessee is on par, or very close to on par with Oklahoma’s historic reputation. Recruiting potential is similar. Knoxville > Norman as far as living situation. And as others have said, Heup is not a dyed-in-the-wool Boomer Sooner like Pruitt was a Bammer, or Kiffin was (for whatever reason) a Trojan.

First Riley aint leaving so moot point. However just like athletic directors have always said. They have a list of candidates in case something happens. The sitting coach gets hit by a bus or whatever. In that case hopefully the NCAA cloud is less than when Pruitt was cut loose. We will get a coach and see what happens.

Kiffin was a west coast guy. He was raised in an environment to believe USC was a more relevant program. Kiffin is always looking for a better situation. He will bolt on Ole Miss when he’s offered a better job.

Don't know what his mind would be.

Do know that he's not from Oklahoma. Do know that he was fired and made a scapegoat by OU. Do know that coaches very often fail when they try to "go home". I do know that having a good working relationship with the AD is as critical to a HC's success as almost anything.

Would be a terrible move. He has a chance to make a name for himself at Tennessee. He wouldn't get credit for anything at Oklahoma if he simply continues to operate what Riley built... on the flip side, if Oklahoma were to slip under Heupel his career tanks.

I wouldn't mind if Riley bolted OU this year, though. A new coach in Norman would definitely give us 4-5 years of tranquility on the alma mater matter (see what i did there?).

The AD point is what I came here to highlight. That partnership is critical for success. Jimbo Fisher never recovered from Randy Spetman being reassigned following the Jameis Winston mess and never gelled with the replacement. And we were witness to Fulmer without Dickey.

I think Lincoln Riley might get a sniff from LSU.

Jimbo is the big steal but I'm not seeing that happen for Woodward. Kiffin will probably get a look too but he's got the chance of having Arch Manning running his offense and he'd be stupid to not wait and see on that. I've also wondered if Dabo might be the biggest rat to run from the burning Clemson ship..... and get a look from LSU.

After those guys, Riley might be the next shiny thing LSU looks at.

LSU is going to want an "exciting" hire because, ya know, LSU. There's not much out there in the "splashy hire dept" right now.

Dabo has a relatively sure thing in the ACC. And with OU and TX coming... the SEC could make his 2021 into a recurring nightmare.
