I know before you say the fans don’t have anything to do with the product on the field. I get that and I know that.

However in this case we caused Pruitt to be here. I believe the fan revolution was needed. It got EVERYONE fired in athletics & administration departments. We had enough of “their” decisions and we revolted.

If Pruitt fails we fail as fans in the eyes of every decision maker across the country. Fan bases will never be able to do what we did. Tennessee will just be the school every other school points to with their fans complaints. Saying “shut up you don’t know what your talking about do you want to be Tennessee?”

Fans we have power and it showed in what we did. This is a pivotal moment, is there a lot we can do? No there is not. But calling for Pruitt to be fired is a bad look on us after what we did. We burnt the house down, I mean burnt it to the ground. And now we are upset that the house wasn’t rebuilt overnight???

When you burn your house down it sucks, it takes time to rebuild and takes a few years to get all your stuff back. Was Pruitt the perfect hire? Absolutely not, he wasn’t ready for this job. However he can learn, and if we get behind him and help him recruit by just not calling for his job, or complaining to players and recruits he could succeed. He can recruit when we are there!

So is Pruitt the guy? That’s yet to be seen he hasn’t even had two recruiting classes yet, but if he has success here that means us as fans here at Tennessee won! Because if Pruitt fails we fail.

You do know that Schiano has already retired from coaching due to “health” problems?

Plus we run of the mill fans had nothing to do with his offer being rescinded.

Man it’s the perception I’m talking about with us as fans. We demanded better and rioted. It got everyone fired and then no coach with successful experience wanted to take this job. We ended up with a first time head coach.

I think your missing the point here or didn’t read the whole post.

Leach still wanted the job.

Aka because he didn't want anyone digging any further into his past

Given the current status of our football program are we really that worried about perception? I mean really, does it matter?

And he wasn’t Gruden so we complained again, Currie was called back to Knoxville and then fired for offering him the job.

Did some of you miss how everything went down?

LOL

You think fans grumbling over Gruden is why Currie was fired?

Listening to people who actually are worth listening to is what we as fans need to try and do. Now, it is not common for ex players and coaches and well respected individuals of the program to bad mouth it or speak completely open about new coaches and the state of the program.

However, if it were bad (worse than appears), and considering the yearning these people have to take UT Football back to where it was, I would find it odd that these people wouldn't be doing something to not allow a coach they viewed as incapable and a dead man walking to continue.

No matter how bad we want it, they want it just a little more no matter how you try and say they don't. I do believe that someone that went to UT and paid for their schooling and graduated has just a little more in their hearts than those fans that didn't (not saying anything other than like love for a family member vs that of friends and lovers.....it's love, just a scant little minute difference). For the guys who played here and coached the football team they have a little more than both types of fans. Agree or not, but, IMO it is true, and you can't quantify it, but, it exists.

So, I would hope, and I do think, that the ex players and ex coaches and most respected individuals are involved and talking and doing their best to try and make sure we are doing what is best for the future of Tennessee Football.

It was a string of things that led to Currie being fired. His coy tactics when asked about Gruden yes led to a lot of his issues. He wasn’t coming here and Currie played games.

LOL

Anyone with even a 1/4 of a brain knew Gruden was never coming here. Currie didn’t play coy, he just kept his mouth shut.

So you're saying fans have no right to expect better. We should just pay these coaches millions of dollars and keep our mouths shut no matter how bad it gets. There is a word for that. It's called apathy. Believe me we're almost there.
