Sadly we live in a society with a short term memory problem. They don't remember you after a little hiatus.

Peyton right now has the most momentum, and should consider being a QB coach/offensive coordinator advisor.

It would have the most impact on recruiting NOW.

I've always believed that Peyton was going to return to the game as a coach, and he was going to be one of the best coaches in history. Nows the time. Open the checkbook and bring Peyton home.

I've never thought Peyton was gonna come back to Tennessee as a coach and I still don't. Believe it when I see it. He's destined for much grander things IMO than being a position coach on college coaching staff. Furthermore, I hope he never does come back here to coach. He would go from being an icon and all-time Tennessee great and legend to a bum that needs to be run out of town because he called a draw on 3rd and 12. No, no thanks. Let Peyton continue to support the team and program as he currently does while being part owner of an NFL franchise or something.

Sad, but absolute truth.

Open the checkbook? First you need to realize money where Peyton is concerned is a non factor. Secondly why would he risk his reputation and get bombed by fans if things don't turn out positive right away.

I think the most we could expect is for him to come in during Spring/Summer camp as a QB adviser or something of that capacity. I doubt he takes a full-time gig.

To help his program.

Why does the entrepreneur start a business if he is probably going to fail? Why ever take risks at all? Answer; That's what life is all about.

Please see Michigan under Jim Harbaugh, who are probably going to become the next dynasty. Harbaugh also played QB at Michigan. Stop being box thinking, mouth breathing fools.

"Never beat Florida" would never be posted on this forum, huh? :)

Can he recruit? Somehow, I think he wouldn't settle for a bunch of 3 stars

Then he might have some 5 man classes. No coach INTENDS to have a "bunch of 3 stars", some have to work their way through it.

The irony in your post is smothering. Maybe your group shouldn't call for coaches to be fired after every little thing.

Some 3 stars are ok, but the 2017 class is almost entirely 3 stars. It's November, it's time to panic

I'd be curious to know if Manning resonates with high school kids like we assume he does? We all love PM and many of us remember his time at UT...but these kids weren't born when he played at UT.

He certainly couldn't hurt the situation but there is no way he comes to UT as a position coach. As others have mentioned, his 1st 3 and out the idiots would be calling for his head.

You're way too far ahead of us... We'll never catch up! :gone:

He will never coach. Him being a qb coach will over shadow the head coach, that is even more impossible.

The absolute last thing he needs to do is be a coach on Tennessee's staff.

KB, you know what the nicest thing about being
Peyton Manning is? He can do what he wants without worrying about or being constrained by anyone's opinion.

The obvious thing about Peyton is writing a big paycheck to get him probably won't work. The man is the owner of several Papa John's locations in a state with legalized marijuana. That decision on it's own say he doesn't need the money.

And now is not the time for Peyton to coach. Peyton is still a hot marketing property nationwide. Becoming a coach now would put that at risk.

He is more recognizable than OJ was doing Hertz commercials. This means the OP's idea that society's 'short term memory" will ever be an issue for him is laughable. If Peyton wants to coach, he will in his own good time.

Having Peyton on the coaching staff is a disaster waiting to happen. As soon as he is on the staff everyone will want him to be the head coach. No coach wants that and Peyton knows the homecoming would be over as soon as he loses a game. Terrible idea

I hope he's too smart to ever come here to coach.

I still don't understand why people are just dead set that he would be a great coach or that he could recruit. He may be the best at both but there is nothing to back that it is all just hope.
