If he takes the job, we as vols fans need to support him......just like we all got on the "Lane train". Let's hope that Hamilton gives him the money to go hire a top notch staff, and an ace recruiter. He should be the best candidate for Bray as well. He's great at teaching a young quarterback. It's not going to do this program any good to write hate messages here about him. He's not my first choice, but at least.....the very least, we can be true Vols fans, and support him.

I could live with Cutcliffe and the following staff...
OC - Kippy Brown (but we know who will be calling the plays)
DC-? Thompson maybe, I really don't know here.
DL- Rodney Garner and recruiting coordinator
OL- James Cregg
DB's- Garza
RB- ??
WR- Trooper Taylor
LB- Would love to see Al Wilson here, I know it probably would never happen but I think it would be a good hire.

I dont want Cutcliffe but if you gave me this staff with Curtis Loper as RB coach i will be happy! And i realy would like Al Wilson to be on the next staff!

He will need quality coaches to win.

Yeah, it took us until about 1989 to really recover from that. You are looking at the same here. My yet to be born baby will be grown!:mf_surrender:

Can we support Cutcliffe while calling for Hamilton's head?

Bray and Stephens would be in good hands. At least we know that much. Good QB play can take you a long way.

And how far did we move forward last year when hiring Kiffin? Cut would not be my first choice, and Im sure was not MH first choice, but I would rather have Cut, a Tennessee guy that appreciates the tradition and history of Tennessee Football, than another goob from outside that is just looking at us as a stepping stone. If it ends up being Cutcliffe, or whoever, we gotta step up and get behind them and help bring Tennessee Football back to where it belongs. Ive read so much BS on here the last couple of days about OU fans laughing at us, Texas fans laughing at us, many other fans taking jabs at us,m but thats fine, we are still Tennessee, and right now we are down, but we will never be out, and you guys keep laughing because we will be back. Go Vols, and whoever the coach ends up being.

Spend 1/2 as much as you paid Monte and you get a GREAT Defensive Coordinator. That is the most important hire. Most (if not all) of Lane's "success" was due to Monte's defense.

At this late date, we don't have a lot of choices left. We are asking these head coaches to do the same thing Lame did to us by thaking this job. The blame for this goes back to Mike Garrett, and for my money, in the long run, he helped us out more than he knows.

OH MY GOD. Not Cut. Please tell me that this isn't happening.

if we get a Fulmer retread I'm going to be sick to my stomach.

Right now, Kippy would be the best option to be a temporary intern HC. Then after the NSD passes, start looking in earnest for a good coach. If that doesn't happen, then maybe at the end of '10 we can find a better replacement. We are not in a good position here. But, if Hamilton does hire Cut, regardless of how we feel, we still need to support the program.

If UT hires Cut, I'll be lobbying for Hamilton's termination for making a "panic hire" not Cut's for being a Fulmer retread.

This is a disaster, you can pour sugar all over it all you want. Hiring Cut will make a bad situation worse.

I really think we should give Cut a chance before we say he is terrible, if we want to say he is terrible in 2 years that is a different story. If he comes in here and hires a great staff and is able to keep most of our recruiting class then I think alot of people will change their views.

We will not be "back" until we fire Cutcliffe in 4 years of mediocritey and then we would have to rebuild for another 3 years.
