If not Gruden might as well keep Dooley

I'm all in on Gruden. I don't have a clue how he'll do but I feel he is our chance for a big splash hire that would seemingly want to be at Tennessee. For some reason I'm indifferent about the other choices. Petrino has baggage, Cutcliffe, Tubberville, Mullin and Stoops (not that he was realistic) just got drilled, Strong to be a defensive specialist seems to give up a lot of points to not very good teams, Smart is a Saban dude (tired of those), already have a coach from La Tech, Sumlin and Freeze just started new gigs, Franklin seems douchey, Kelly, Kelly, and Peterson aren't going anywhere. I don't dislike Dooley. Maybe we should learn from history where maybe Fulmer needed 1 more year with his new coordinator to fix things (I think a lot of people have second guessed that). I was not ashamed of the Vols against South Carolina and there is a possibility of winning out to finish with a decent record. I definitely would love to have Gruden as our coach but otherwise ... meh.

I just dont see how anybody could even have a defense on keeping him. Even if we don't get Gruden I'm sure we could still land a big name that would do a lot better. Dooley has had 3 years worth of chances to show he'd do good, and.....

The only thing is

The Vols have scored plenty of points to win all their games but Bama

If the Vols had a top D .we would more then likely have only one loss

I'm so sick of people suggesting that we are better now than we were three years ago, so Dooley deserves credit. WE AREN'T MARSHALL! We didn't lose our entire roster in a plane crash. We are Tennessee, with tradition, facilities...all that stuff that you know and love about our Vols.
Anybody could have done the mediocre patch job that this guy has done. Filling the roster with scholarship athletes alone made us better than when Kiffin left us. Why give a guy so much credit for something like that?
Also, people argue that his losses are just against the best teams in the country so that means he deserves some slack. Am I the only one that realizes that we have to play these teams every year? They are in our conference, so we can't just brush them off as losses every year. We have to be able to beat those teams at some point. Dooley can not beat them. Time to move on. Sheesh!!

This logic only makes sense if you expect a "Gruden" to come next year.

No...Dooley is done and no reason to keep him. There alot of better options out there

Oh God No....Dooley must Go regardless...can't coach and can't recruit with the top SEC teams.....Recruiting=75% coaching 25% some may disagree but talent wins 90% of the time

Fulmer needed to go. Hamilton made the right decision in firing him, and then totally ****ed up the job of hiring a replacement - and then the replacement for a replacement. Doesn't mean Fulmer should have been retained.
