I would play up the Tennessee Volunteers of the war of 1812, not the civil war. That is where the nickname was first popularized. Also, the civil war is still a sensitive issue in racial terms. Besides, despite what many locals around here think, East Tennessee was not very pro confederate at all, and Tennessee in general was the least enthusiastic of the states that succeeded. I know I know, this is knit picking. Just saying, I would replace the civil war talk with General Jackson and 1812 talk.
