This is the biggest loss in his time as Tennessee’s football coach. I’m not playing JG another down. I’m going with Shrout or Bailey. I’m getting rid of Chaneys non agreesive offense. If my Oline is going to be this fat, I’m not going hurry up no huddle. I’m getting an offense that uses a tight end and a fullback especially within 5 yards of the end zone.

I’m letting my future guys gets starts within reason. If Pruitt can’t get rid of some of these assistants and get a 10-2 type season next year, then he’s in trouble.

If you think it’s purely a JG issue, you are ignoring the rail whipping we have gotten across the board

We have been watching this show for a few years now and the lack of productivity at a single position is taking the team down. 7 points in the last 90 minutes of football. I believe the entire team has lost all confidence in that position and they are playing like it. No matter how hard the defense plays if the offense cannot outscore the opponent on points the offense gives up there is ZERO chance of winning. It is sad that we have a QB no pro team would be interested in if he left after this year and just being honest with ourselves what college coach would seriously entertain bringing him in if he enters the transfer portal. A very tough decision needs to be made about the QB position and it is not suggesting the QB is bad person or anything like that, but he is not the QB or leader we can be confident will lead us to anything more than a mediocrity - at best. So much excitement heading into the season only be squashed by 3 halves of crappy football.

He is in over his head and has misjudged his coaches and players.

Go with Bailey, better to go with Bailey at this point. He is raw and doesn't know the offense, but JG is seasoned and doesn't know the offense. At least this OLine shouldn't get him killed, at least until after BAMA.

I'm not anti-Shrout but he's a 3rd year QB. He threw into coverage (again) with a guy underneath running free. I'd go with Maurer/Bailey or Bailey/Maurer. JG would never see the field again at UT if I were in his shoes.
I agree with you on Shrout.

I'd loved to be surprised by Bailey but I still just don't see him being ready. Last year Pruitt pulled the trigger and started BM against GA after our 4th game, but BM had a non-ChinaFlu full spring & fall camp.

There has got to be an even bigger fire under Pruitt to make a change going into our 5th game this year than last year.

I'm thinking short of a healthy Maurer that can come in, play at his best, and finish games....this is going to be a long season......

Best case - BM keeps us competetive vs AL and gives us a shot at a 6-4 season.
Worst case - BM plays like the last 6QT's we've seen from JG and we put Harrison Bailey out there in a few more games.

I'm fine with JG as our #2/#3, but there is no reason to give JG anymore starts.

The only scenario I really see being so catastrophic that it torpedoes our 2021 recruiting class is continuing to start JG.

Not trying to be contentious but I don't see why. What is to be gained for the future by giving him even one more #1 snap in practice? UT can no longer think in terms of competing for the East. Two losses plus a D that isn't dominant couple to JG... just isn't a formula that works.

So choose your two most talented guys and give them all of the snaps.

Why?

If we're playing to protect a lead late 3rd/4th QTR and our #1 has to come out due to injury..... as long as he remains #2/#3 the following week.

I admittedly can't come up with too many scenarios where I justify putting him in due to BM or HB being ineffective.
