If Fulmer Leaves, does recruiting drop?

somebody needs to wake up and smell the roses, we're going to be 4th or 5th in the SEC East this year most likely. The only thing GOOD about TN right now is that we have stability in the coaching position.

Florida has Meyer
Georgia has Richt
SCarolina has Spurrier
LSU has Miles
Auburn has Tubberville
Alabama has Saban

Those are your big teams in the conference and their coaches aren't going anywhere. The ONLY thing TN has right now is a coach with name recognition. Just like getting elected to political office, name recognition goes a long way. Instability in a program can be deadly (look at Syracuse, Nebraska, Colorado, Arkansas, etc).

If you're a true TN fan you need to wait this whole Fulmer thing out because right now TN is on the brink of being bottom tier SEC. If Fulmer goes, so goes our recruiting for at least 2 or 3 years. If the team struggles after Fulmer is gone, there's no telling how long we will suffer.

TN needs to hire an aggressive playcaller, and start recruiting badazz defensive players. With a tall, mobile QB, and a great defense TN can win with Fulmer. 3 yards and a cloud of dust just isn't going to win us any championships in the near future, that's the problem. And our defense is pretty young, I don't blame the coaches for their mistakes.

No and Yes. Depends on the Coach that replaces CPF Of course any change will show a drop in the first year but if our Recruitting Classes are as good as everybody states. The new coach and Staff should be able to Coach them Up. So it Depends. We have got the toughest facilities, strong fan base and the right conference to recruit. Do not forget the Tradition of the Program and its ability to put HS kids via UT into the NFL.

I think no matter who the coach is in the next 5 years, it is going to be difficult to get the level of talent we got in the 90s. There are too many quality coaches surrounding Tennessee and locking the Vols out of getting their big name recruits. High school football in Tennessee is very poor, so we can't fall back on that.

Tennessee is consistently in the top 10 and some years in the top 5 in recruiting rankings. But most years those rankings are decieving. What happens is Tennessee will get 25+ recruits that are 3-4 star players and once the points are computed on rivals.com for number of recruits and stars, they come out ranked pretty high as a class. But at the same time, USC, Florida, etc. are getting 20 5 star recruits. Its a difference in quality not quantity. And when their 5 stars go against our 3/4 stars on the field, it doesn't turn out very well.

On paper we should have won 2 or 3 NCs because of the Recruiting agencies opinions. We need a coach who can coach them up. Recruiting, coaching and training are continuous processes throughout the 4 year period. IMO we are not currently doing that with a few exceptions. Every noticed how our QBs are better their FR - Soph years versus their Jr Sr years.

Fulmer has done a great job recruiting talent to Rocky Top...there's no denying that. But, Tennessee really recruits itself. The championship, the facilities, the stadium, the fan support...it's a top-flight school in the nation's best conference.

The next coach at UT will have no problem recruiting nationally ranked talent.

Even dumbose had an SECCG since CPF's last one.
