If we got a guy like Bud Foster, Brian Kelly, etc., how well could they recruit against the rest of the SEC? Miles has talent rich Louisiana to pull from, Meyer has Florida on lock down, Richt has Georgia well covered and the state of Alabama will be locked down by Tubby and Sabanochio. We would have to hire someone who can recruit across the country and bring players in because the state of Tennessee is not loaded by any means with tons of talent. Fulmer knows how to recruit across the country. Of our All-Americans that he has put out 2 come to mind that are from Tennessee. John Henderson and Al Wilson.

Does it matter? If one were to look at the team that just beat UT 41-17 I bet they would find that our recruiting classes rank at least 10 places ahead of them for the last few years...if not more.

yeah, i think we're at the point now where it may negatively affect recruiting if he stays.....

did anyone see that Spurlock article the other day? he went public with his criticism of CPF's recruitment of him. throw in the possible discontent of some current players, getting rolled by your rivals, etc....it won't take long before some of these guys start to look elsewhere....

bottom line, there's just nothing to get excited about right now at TN, and i think it may be a hard sell right now, and that's the first time i've ever thought that about us in regards to recruiting.

Unless the 2007 class comes through we it looks as though there will be some big deficits in the near future. We are damned if we do..damned if we don't at this point. We better generate some buzz in a hurry.

I want to find somebody who is all about taking care of business, zero tolerance, has control of his team and program.

Honestly, I said this the other day, I still dont think we have recovered from Kelly Washington. He was Fulmer's cancer if you ask me.

CPF has "Sears-inoma". It has taken a while to get him, but he appears overtaken now.

Isn't it more important to make the best out of the talent that you have? I know both lost this past weekend but, do KY or USCe have the talent that we do? Does anyone feel confident we will beat either of them this year?

Its a monday after a loss. Dont look for confidence here. Optimisim is restricted. Besides, it is the SEC. Who in the hell knows whats going to happen next?

Fulmer has done a great job recruiting talent to Rocky Top...there's no denying that. But, Tennessee really recruits itself. The championships, the facilities, the stadium, the fan support...it's a top-flight school in the nation's best conference.

The next coach at UT will have no problem recruiting nationally ranked talent.

I don't know if he was AA, but Jason Witten comes to mind.

I think recruiting probably drops off, but I'm not sure that it will make a huge difference.

Yah. I want a coach who can get the most out of his players everygame.... ala Bruce Pearl. He beat teams that were way more talented than his but he had his players fighting for 40 minutes every game. Also, he has utter control of his players and program and he can recruit because of his personality.

Saban got the most out of his players in a big game on Saturday. We had the bettr QB, the better RB's, the better O-Line, the better TE and we came away with nothing. We had a better punter and PK too. It's sad.

i agree with that statement, IF we land a coach that generates alot of buzz in Kville. we gotta open the purse, and lure someone like Leavitt, Gruden, or Schiano. we already have 1 Bruce Pearl(wild card). our football program needs a recognizable leader that has head coaching experience, already, or we might stay at the back of the SEC line for a long time to come.

does it really matter, fulmer has a top 10 recruiting class every year and we still stink the joint up. he has to go.:salute:

i don't think recruiting has been that big an issue since the bill battle era. UT is one of those schools whose offer is considered an honor. dick cheney could keep it in the top twenty. that aside, the bigger question is who can put talent to the best use. fulmer and chavis obviously have forgotten how. just how is it that so many top five signing groups have disappeared? is there a black hole in knoxville?

Recruiting would fall off for maybe a season until guys see where our program is heading. If we are winning we recruit well, if we are average we have a lame duck coach after 3 seasons.

Well the 2005 class has been disappointing,2006 was rated about the seventh or eight in the sec and somewhere in the twenty's nationally. With the way we are playing ball 2008 won't set the world on fire. This class may not rank amongst the top twenty five with us giving so many scholarships out last year. That's three less than steller classes out of four. This trend keeps up we will be trading games every year with vandy and kentucky.:ermm:
