...who would you want us to go after?

I really wouldn't mind having Shaka Smart on our sidelines. The guy plays an exciting uptempo style that capitalizes with inferior talent.

**Note: I'm not saying I want Cuonzo fired. It is officially the offseason now, and the NCAA tournament is showcasing potential future coaching prospects. It's just something fun to talk about.

MOD EDIT: If you want to advocate hiring Pearl again, that's fine. Say so. But please, no back-and-forthing about Bruce in this thread.

Pick someone else, we tried to get Shaka last time.

With that said...im saying Izzo for head coach and Pearl as his assistant.

Butler's coach. That team lacks talent compared to most major conference teams, but they are coached very well and don't play like wild idiots jacking up shots all the time. He would run circles around others with the talent on Tennessee.

Just curious, but do you guys really think CCM wont work out? I thought this team over achieved considering we didn't have our best player and the roster is lacking talent and depth.

I tend to take the stance that I can't predict the future. I just watch and wait.

I think Tennessee screwed up not trying to get Butler's Brad Stevens a few years ago. Now I think he is making 1 million + a year and a big 10-12 year contract after playing in 2 straight national championship games before last season.

Dixon from Pitt.

I wanted Tubby when Counzo was hired, but I'm afraid he's getting long in the tooth.

And how do you know they didn't try to get him?

How do you know he was not contacted and didn't turn UT down. If he left Butler it would be for UK, Kansas, UNC, Indiana, etc...an elite school with history.

It's just VN's normal overreaction to anything that doesn't go perfectly.

Stevens isn't going to happen. He's turned down better jobs.

No elite coaches are going to come here. We would have to get a good mid major like we have the past two times. It's hit or miss. I personally think CCM can/will get this done.

With the athletic programs financial situation, I doubt Cuonzo will be going anywhere. He will at least have one more year to turn things around.

I would bet that this time next year we will be talking about how far we think UT can go in the tourny rather then who the next coach will be.
