If and I really hope it does not happen, but if Crompton goes down do you think that G. Jones would have a shot considering he has looked better at QB over the rest of the depth chart at QB? Considering he would be a dual threat and he has shown some brilliance?

I'm pretty sure Nick Stephens is currently second on the depth chart.

The pre-season is still young, but yes, you are right. I think that by the time the season rolls around, Coleman has a chance to be #2.

Well heck, I was at dinner tonight and thought about it so I just wanted everybody's thoughts. So I got em, no harm no foul. :peace2:

If Crompton were to go down I would assume Coleman would be the #2 guy, but I guess it could be Stephens. I would almost guarantee it would not be Jones though.

I stated this before and I think that it will hold true. Everyone was wondering who the #1 QB would be and I said it would be Crompton without a doubt. To me who would be the #1 QB was not hard to figure out. The real question is who is going to be the #2 QB. That is where the real controversy will come in.

I thought it was Crompton and Coleman battling it out for starter early in the off season

Nope. It was technically a 3 man race, although I don't think Crompton really had too much of a chance of losing. After watching the Orange and White game, I'd agree with the coaches rankings.

1. Crompton
2. Stephens
3. Coleman

Maybe Coleman just had a bad day at the OW game, but honestly it looked like Crompton was way ahead of everyone and Stephens was definitely better than Coleman.

Colemans stats were much better than Stephens but I didn't actually watch the game.

Coleman should be the #2 man to get as much experience because he is going to lead the train in 2 years.

Well, I'm not going to call anyone out on the homer thing, but you're probably right about Stevens. That doesn't mean that Coleman won't be making up ground. I expect BJ will be one of the better QBs to wear orange before he graduates.

wow you delusional coleman homers, get over it, he is #3 and a frosh , sorry

Jones has thrown one pass in a game, and that was in the Orange and White game. Hard to say he is above the rest of the depth chart with one pass. It was a good pass, but still. It will be stephens or coleman backing up crompton, but hopefully we won't have to worry about it.

wow. Did no one pay attention to Coleman at the O&W game or hear about how bad his spring practice went in general?

His footwork is essentially a disaster and Fulmer and Clawson have both mentioned that he's having a hard time learning the playbook. It would be shocking for him to be the #2 guy come fall. It would take a miracle for him to play well if he had to step into the first string role.

If Crompton got hurt early in the year, we wouldn't make a Bowl Game. Seriously, he is the one guy we can't afford to have injured. The talent level drops way off after Crompton...just my opinion.

I don't know if the talent level drops off as much as experience running an offense.
