Will the ticket sales decrease? Will attendance be atrocious next year? How many people would honestly think twice about renewing their season tickets?

I back this football team. But I no longer back this coach.

The only vote many of us have is with contributions, buying tickets and attending games. Many of us who are frustrated will certainly be tempted to show our displeasure the latter part of this season and next if the status quo remains.

If Derek Dooley is retained, the fan optimism and excitement during the off season will plummet dramatically. Our recruiting class is sub par as it is and I do not see it getting any better. The only way I see Derek Dooley staying for another season is if Dave Hart whiffs on the "Big Fish" hires he has on his short list. One thing I do ask is if Dooley is retained, would it be possible for him NOT to hold any post or pregame press conferences? I am so tired of hearing the same darn excuses about why his team always comes up short and quite frankly I think he is tired of talking about the issue as well. Anyone on this site concur?

If Dooley is retained, I don't think I would even start thinking about football until next September. Offseason wouldn't be interesting. Following recruiting wouldn't be interesting because I would know that whatever talent Dooley managed to con into joining his team, he would just squander their abilities and go 7-6 on a good year. I am just numb to UT football right now. I think the only thing that could fix that is getting this clown out of town.

In your dreams.

Book it.
Most of our fans have some level of intelligence.
If he finishes 8-5, Sal gets some help with his backfield, recruits a big down hill runner to crash behind the best Oline in the SEC, ticket sales will be fine.
Put the blame for this season on wilcox where it belongs.

I've got a good friend who is a Miami fan and I always tease him about the fans dressing as orange chairs. He swears that the cameras are facing the visitors side and the home side is full. I laugh and ask if they sell 50-50 allotments to home games.

Dooley may well be retained...

... to hold Jon Gruden's headset and enforce shower discipline.

The MTSU game last year was horrible you could get a ticket on the street for 10 bucks and set where ever you wanted. Big name hire will pay for itself. but who knows around here anymore

I'll assume you're practicing for April 1st as there is no way anybody could even think that the reason UT isn't winning is the fault of Justin Wilcox.

UT's 2012 Defense is ranked 99th in Total Defense and 101st in Scoring Defense out of 120 teams in the NCAA right now.

Wilcox's two UT Defenses ranked:

2011
Total D - 28th
Scoring D - 36th

2010
Total D - 69th
Scoring D - 56th

Wilcox had younger players and less depth. I fail to see how this is his fault.

How the hell can you blame Wilcox for this season?

I certainly do concur, especially with the post game interviews. Yesterday's post-game looked deja vu, with Dooley apparently frustrated, nervous, and very squirmy. He was terrible at eye contact. I sensed that he felt very much on the hot seat.

I have mixed feelings on Dooley's departure:

1) For Dooley to stay:
First, he is a great guy, and he has certainly brought some much-needed integrity back to our program... especially after the Kiffin debacle.
Second, the only real embarrassment he has brought to the program is found in the W - L record.
Third, our recruiting rank by Rivals.com is currently # 24 (out of over 200 d-1 programs) (not great, but not as bad as some we've had).
Forth, We were in the games we lost right up to the end (except for BAMA... and the 'WE Quit Attitude against MS State)

2) For Dooley to leave:
First, Dooley does not seem able to make a connection with the fan base (there is something missing here).
Second, He has not been able to lead the VOLS to victory in what... 15 games against ranked teams now.
Third, No wins against an SEC team since Vandy last year.
Forth, Dooley looked like a doe-in-the-headlights-of-a-semi during the Bama game - like he had no clue.
Fifth, post-game interviews are beginning to sound the same: "We have to find the answers to (fill in the blank) and we're got to find answers to (fill in the blank), we've got to (fill in the blank) better, and we have to start (fill in the blank) better.
Sixth, fan base is dividing, and many fans are exiting the stadium by third quarter. This causes team excitement, fan excitement, and finances to plummet.

In my honest opinion, as much as I like Dooley for the man he is, the integrity he has brought back to UT football, and for running a clean NCAA sanction-free program... Hart would be unwise to retain Dooley for 2013... IF he can bring in an SEC caliber coach to replace Dooley, AND get donors to pay for the transition (i.e., buyouts, etc...).

Now, whether we have Dooley, Gruden, Stoops, Tuberville, Strong, Smart (just no Stupid, please), Fulmer (as interim only), or even Ole Smokey patrolling the sidelines and calling the plays... I'm going to continue to wear my Big Orange "Power T" with pride and yell: "GO VOLS!!!" >< >

Since you seem to lack the intelligence to reason, his bolting is why we're 3-5.
Had he stayed we'd probably be 7-1 at this point.
Try thinking.
