Who wins the west? Could this create the possibility of an Arky v Ala NCG without either of them playing in the SECCG? I love the BCS.

It would depend on who was the higher ranked team in BCS. I would guess Bama would make it to the SECCG if this happened.

If Arky smokes LSU. and we're talking like a 14+ point win, they MIGHT jump bama (assuming bama struggles or even loses against auburn of course).

If Arky beats LSU (assuming they get to the SECCG with the tie breaker) and they win the SEC, they may play LSU again for the NC. Thats how jacked up this is.

A lot of pollsters will cringe at putting Bama ahead of LSU with the same record.

Nah. We lost to LSU by 3 points in OT. We beat the Hogs by 24. Unless Arkansas absolutely destroys LSU, then they aren't moving above us.

After winning the conference?

Let me make sure I was clear. If Arky beat LSU and If they got to the SECCG and won That should put them above both Bama and LSU neither of which won the division or the conference.

At that point the discussion turns to #2. Which is where I was saying the pollsters will have a hard time putting Bama ahead of LSU. Not Arky.

Bama beat Arky
Arky beat LSU
LSU beat bama'

Who the hell knows who goes by tiebreaker? bamawriter? I'm sure this has been discussed on your boards...

I thought the tie-breaker was head to head if all the teams were ranked within 5 spots of each other or some crazy ****.

under that scenario Bama would likely be #1 and in the SEC Championship game

The only way Arkansas gets into the SECCG is if they either completely dominate LSU or Bama loses to Auburn (and the former might not get the job done). In order for Arkansas to make the SECCG, then both they and LSU must be ranked ahead of Alabama. If they leave this weekend #3, or #2 behind #1 Alabama, or #1 with Bama at #2, then they cannot go the SECCG.

Why does LSU have to be ranked ahead of Bama for Arky to go to the SECCG?

Extremely small chance that any of this happens IMO. I don't see Bama or LSU losing.

Bama losing to Auburn would throw things for a loop. Regardless of what happens between LSU/Arkansas

The real oddity to wrap your head around is that if LSU wins, but then loses to UGA in the SEC championship game, Alabama and LSU would play in the national championship game while UGA would go to the Sugar as SEC champ.

So the winner of the conference would not play for the title, while a team that lost its last game would.

Those margins don't matter like the locale does. AL lost at home off a bye. Arky will have won on the road with no bye over a team AL couldn't overcome. It would be insane to keep AL above Arky or LSU.

Location matters, for sure, but the voters aren't going to ignore the fact that Arkansas got creamed. The voters aren't going to say to themselves "Gee, Bama might have only won by 17 if they'd played in Fayetteville."

Why does LSU have to be ranked ahead of Bama for Arky to go to the SECCG?

The SEC three way tiebreaker goes to the BCS standings. But there is an exception that says if the top two teams are within five spots of one another, then the winner of the head-to-head goes to the SECCG. So if Arkansas winds up #1, then LSU has to be ranked ahead of Bama so that Arkansas wins the head-to-head tiebreaker. If Arkansas winds up #1 with Bama #2, Bama goes to Atlanta.

It all depends on the result.

Arky needs to win big.

It still might not help Arkansas. In that scenario LSU will have been crushed by Arkansas. Arkansas will have been crushed by Bama. Bama will have lost to LSU by 3 points in OT.

I'm not sure that Bama wouldn't still wind up #1; #2 at the worst.

Ah.

Screwball way to do it, but.. oh well.

If LSU wins the SEC as an undefeated team they should get the NC trophy. Let the NC game determine 2nd place.
