No real updates on Solomon. He said you need to treat him like he is injured and that’s what Pruitt is doing.

An interesting point he brought up. He said he talked to Kevin Steele and asked him what makes Pruitt different than other DCs in the SEC. He said Steele said Pruitt is very pressure heavy in his packages. But to do so effectively, you have to be Abe to play man coverage. I believe we will be able to play more man coverage this year.

He also said he thinks we are not in as bad shape on the DL as some fans think. He said CJP said there was 10 or so guys that can play multiple positions.

Heck maybe we are over-reacting and our DL will be a solid group once they get some playing time. By watching the practice footage all this past week they certainly have the size. That dang Middleton wearing #97 looks like he's gonna be a brawler.
Don’t get me wrong. We can’t afford an injury.

Ya. Didn’t seem to be as concerned on the DL. We have 10 bodies there without Solomon. With him we’d have 11 for 3 positions. For comparison, UF has 9 DL for a 4 man DL.
But the sky is falling....were gone be in the nickel formation more often then the 3-4 anyway. Pruitt plays a very versatile defense

At least we look good getting off the bus. After Botch even that is an improvement.

Give the guy a break man. Did you not realize that only 83 players on the roster had ever ridden on a bus before?
And 53 of those guys had never packed a suitcase before

Aaaaannnnnd .... add to that that 63.4% of those players have never even had a suitcase before, and it's easy to see why the players looked overwhelmed on the field!

Doug had Bud Ford on and will for the next few weeks. The "official" UT historian - a replacement to Haywood Harris. Interesting, except that Doug talked more about the history that Ford did. I wanted to say.. Doug.. close your pie hole and let him tell his story.. Anybody else notice that? It was interesting. Early 60's.. A lot transitioned during the Dickey years. T on the helmet, running through the T, checkerboards revitialized (only to disappear and now they are back again).

On Solomon.. he gave an "oh well.. if he's back, we can use him, if not, redshirt and we have him for 2 more years".. Maybe that's the right answer. As for rebuilding, my opinion is a) we will do better than last year b) we will make it to a bowl. c) Still a "throwaway year".. Maybe good to keep some of our powder dry for next season. He included Gooden in that statement.

No, we’re not overreacting at this point. Perhaps we have guys who show up out of nowhere like in 1985 or something and become all-Americans like Chris White after not having done anything in their previous seasons at Tennessee, but it’s just not likely.

We have bodies and potential, but nobody who’s ever produced anything in the SEC. it’s not overreacting to point that out and be concerned.

You have a greater shot if you have exceptional S&C and coaching.
