Well Phil, I've "watched the film." In HD in fact. Every game of the season. Numerous times.

As a result...I see the following problems/tendencies...
1---QB play is really bad overall (obviously)...bad reads with guys open...failure to check off to a better play, etc...
2---We can't decide who our best RB is (as usual)
3---We're playing WAY off receivers a good bit of the time, especially on third down
4---We apparently don't have (or don't coach) receivers to run routes past the first down marker
5---We obviously don't have enough confidence in our offense to go for it on 4th and short (and have never done it on a regular basis...even in years when we were LOADED with talent)
6---We have the idea that putting in Jones in at QB and running the ball...or Berry in at WR and throwing a 1 yd pass to him is our definition of a "trick play."
7---Our offensive lineman have been consistently 50 lbs overweight and way too slow for the past 5-8 yrs...
8---We run on 1st down, run on 2nd down, and throw on 3rd down...and punt on 4th down...

Just my opinion...time for a shake up...

see...Mike Hamilton was right. HD television is keeping you from attending the games!

Actually, I went to many big games over the years...

Usually GA, FL, and BAMA...even Notre Dame...and lots of other "not so big" games...

Problem was we seemed to LOSE every time I went...HD seems like a better option...especially this season...

In HD all those mistakes seem to "pop out in vivid color" a bit better and more realistic.

Why did you have to watch them numerous times to come to this conclusion. Once should have been more than enough.

We played better as blurry orange blobs running around. Maybe we should boycott the HD. I bet hamilton would be in favor of it. We all know he's not a big fan of HD.:)

I'm calling BS; in fact, a big steaming pile of BS.

If you were looking at it from a film standpoint, the first and only thing that really needs to be noticed is the pathetic play of the offensive line.

And that has absolutely nothing to do with being "overweight" or "way too slow".

I don't know, don't you think we'd be less pathetic if we were faster or less overweight:)
I know I would.

No. I could bring UT a horde of linemen smaller than I am (I'm 5'11", by the way) and see 4.0 ypc in the first season if I took over for Adkins.

QB play is not bad at all for a guy that has only played now for four games...
running back issue yes...
playing off recievers is just part of Chavis' defensive scheme... must be working decently to be 3rd in the nation in interceptions.
recievers have caught everything thrown near them for the most part this year, first few games Crompton couldn't get it within a mile of them...
You don't go for it on 4th and one in the positions we were in and when you have not been running the ball well at all.
We have to be careful with berry and jones not to get them hurt, they are big players that are needed at their respective positions.
Yes our offensive line has sucked this year, but when you have no threat of passing they load the box up. If there are 8 in the box and six good blocks still leaves 2 people to come in and stop the run and/or blitz the qb.

Are they slower or more over weight than last year, its the same line. I thought they would be a strong point coming into this year. Looks to me like a lack of discipline.

Now I would say it is time to get rid of Atkins. The line has been struggling to allow our top backs to gain yards. We need to be able to run the ball.

They have awful technique
Thats true but that goes back to discipline and coaching.

I can't even say that what we see is bad technique, because I've seen "bad technique" and it makes Saturdays in Knoxville look even worse by comparison.

Here's the best comparison I can come up with that you can try at home. Find something at around chest-level, probably a TV. Put your hands together in the middle of the screen and slowly push. Feel how much leverage you can get? Now open your hands and put them on the outside of the TV. Try to get a good grip on the side, then try to push the TV forward just like before.

Adkins is somehow teaching these guys to oppose basic laws of physics. I can't even say "bad technique" any more....I'd say "bad knowledge of physical science".
