Obama speech draws praise in Mideast

now that hussein has apologized to the arab world and promised a palastinian state. i wonder what israel is thinking right now. of course i'm sure Israel knew this dude does like Jews, and i'm sure made plans for him being elected. i can't wait to see Israel's prime minister blow off hussein and make him look foolish (again).

i guess we don't have to worry about muslims terrorists attacking us ever again. :eek:lol:

What is it, exactly, that Obama said that isn't in accord with the last 25 years of American foreign policy?

Their mindset of destroying "The Great Satan" will not change because of Mr. porkulus's speech.

here is what hussein says. of Course Bush said this about 1000 times. no one says we're at war with muslims. this guys is a joke.

In a major speech at the Turkish parliament in Ankara Monday, Obama declared that the United States "is not and never will be at war with Islam"

You want us to declare war on a religion? That would be interesting.

No, he should state the plain and simple truth.......we are war with a certain element, Islamic fundamentalists. I'm sure many Muslims would find it offensive but civilized societies find terrorists offensive, they should just deal with the fact that there is an element of their religion that has grown into a huge problem that disrupts the peace in our global society.

The Muslim extremists are waiting for Obama to disarm the US by selling off our nukes. Then they will use those same nukes to obliterate every square inch of the USA that they can.

saying the United States "is not and never will be at war with Islam." He also spoke of the Arab-Israeli peace process, saying he will "actively pursue" the goal of creating a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
In an interview published Tuesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said Obama's speech "reflects a clear attention toward the two-state solution."

So why didn't they praise Bush for these same comments?

I think the point is exactly that - when he says it, it is somehow a breath of fresh air.

But joevol, in his typical blind hysteria, made it seem like Obama had announced some major shift in American foreign policy equal in stature to the Monroe Doctrine.

About the only thing he did differently is to emphasize the distinction between Islamic terrorists and Islam, as a whole. I don't see anything wrong with reassuring the 99.whatever percent of the billions of Muslims who do not espouse violence that we aren't targeting them, while at the same time singling out the terrorists as the real enemy.

From where do you get the "99 whatever percent" number?

I would say the percentage of Muslims who at least approve of terrorism is quite high.
