No contact with Willie Taggart, who is wanting to come back to the South.

No contact with Kevin Sumlin, who while just fired, has had a winning season every year in the toughest divison in football.

Not only were these coaches not hired (assuming Dave Doeren takes the job), they were not even contacted or mentioned to be looked at by the UT AD.

They are all black. Not one mention or leak of a black candidate to Tennessee by an reputable media source. Despite all three candidates gaining support by the fan base.

I find it incredily suspicious that all three potential options are black and better candidates than Doeren. Yet not one got even a look.

Most people that know my posting history will understand I am not a race baiter or throw comments like these lightly. But I think it deserves to be talked about.

The biggest thing to me is that one black candidate has been mentioned by the media other than Tee and rumors are Tee hasnt even been contacted by the AD. I find that incredibly odd and suspicious.

I don't know what their agenda is, but it's certainly NOT finding and hiring the best candidate to win football games.

I'm not buying it.

Sumlin was canned for under performing - all the things we complain about like performance in the SEC, Sumlin embodies. Huge under achiever. Wasn't good enough for TAMU but we should hire him?

Tee is more unproven than anyone we've looked at. No one is coming after him or seriously considering him for HC. If he wasn't a former Vol people would be losing their minds he was even mentioned.

I don't know enough about Taggart to comment.

Look, we've F'd this thing up royal but Tee and Sumlin simply would not be acceptable candidates in a normal Vols search. No need to add another layer of unsubstantiated claims on top of the dumpster fire we're witnessing.

1) Taggart has an overall record of 47-50. I thought we didn't want .500 coaches.

2) Martin needs some head coaching experience, or some more years of co-ordinator experience before hopping into this job.

3) Sumlin just got canned. Most big, important schools like U.T. don't usually pick up in conference rejects.

Could be right OP. I would have never imagined it to be the case but it’s mighty suspicious.

I’m not a big fan of having Tee as our HC right now, but would definitely interview if not hire Taggart or Sumlin.
