We were planning on just trying to watch through the fence, but we soon found out it was open to the public. We got there at about 4:30, so practice was already half over, but still got to see lots of good stuff.

When I got there, they were doing 11 on 11. Crompton seemed to be doing okay today. Stephens didn't look that good. He threw a couple INTs, one returned for a TD. Art Evans made an amazing one-handed INT at one point. It was awesome. Stephens also got sacked 3 times that I saw.

Later, after a 5 minute water break, they did 7 on 7 at one end of the field, and looked like the O and D-line were practicing pass rush/protection on the opposite side of the field. Crompton and Stephens both looked much more comfortable in 7 on 7. (I guess anyone would, but these guys seriously need to stop playing so scared in 11 on 11). Seems like they made lots of good throws during this drill. Warren made 2 or 3 great catches. They threw to him A LOT. He did have one drop that I saw. After another 5 minute water break, they went back to 11 on 11.

Luke Stocker also made some good grabs. He also had one drop. At one point Hardesty dropped a short pass and you could tell he was pissed at himself. He threw the ball hard on the ground afterward.

Jones caught a long TD pass at one point and then slam dunked the football in the goalpost.

Oku is a beast. He was awesome today. It seemed like every play was going to him and he delivered. At one point near the very end of practice, a defender tackled him at his knees. Oku didn't like that at all. He shoved the guy hard when they got up and a fight almost broke out. The coaches cooled them off quickly though.

I saw Poole's injury. He looked like he was in alot of pain, but the trainer was just massaging his calf. Hopefully that's a sign that it was just cramps, but I don't know if they cart people off the field for cramps...:ermm:

I don't think Brown played at all when I was there, but then later I heard he had a concussion so that explains it.

If there's any other questions you have about practice, feel free to ask. Hopefully I can answer. In the meantime, I heard practice was open at Neyland Stadium tomorrow, but I don't know what time. I know all practices have been at 2:45, but I didn't know if Saturday's time would be different.

GO VOLS!

Stephens looked real good at the start of practice, but threw some picks late, I guess when you were there.

Some are reporting that Stephens looked better that Jon today.

Maybe he did. Remember, I got there late, and there's alot more to the game than I know of. I just have basic football knowledge. From what I saw, and in my personal opinion, I thought Crompton looked better.

Who hit Oku down low?....Couldn't have been EB...if so, Oku would be living the rest of his life on nubs!...just sayin....

Good info. I just hope the quarterbacks start to get it eventually.

If it was a cramp that they could not immediately relieve on the field, they probably use the cart to get him to the locker room as quick as possible for an IV so that it would not spread to other areas of the body.

Thanks for the info man! It was confirmed that Poole just had cramps.....and you did basically show up to see Stephens at his worst. All the accounts I have seen were that he was doing great the entire practice, easily out playing JC, until throwing those picks in the end zone. I am getting the feeling that maybe JC isnt as much a shoe in to be behind center when we face WKU as everyone originally thought, with Stephens being behind cause of his wrist injury in the spring.

I would think that's probably why he has come out and impress, because he has heard about Bryce Brown this and Bryce Brown that, I know if I was highly touted as Oku was and come to a school with the #1 recruit in the country I would want to work hard to one up him

My response is to VolInNooga...It didn't wrap quotes around it for some reason?

Thanks for the report. What does the D look like under Monty? 4-3-4 most of the time I'm assuming?

7 on 7 is a different world than 11 on 11, but one of them needs to get it figured out.
