I hear it on these forums all the time that there are people that ask people in front of them to sit down.

I have not been to a game in about 3 years and the first game I go to I sit in front of people that ask me to sit down.

I reply to them "If I sit down I won't be able to see because the people in front of me are standing" They are like "Uh well tell them to SIT DOWN!" I reply "You don't have to sit down at a football game"

Finally after we sit down because of some stoppage of play the people that complained clapped because we sat down. I turn around and say "That is the first time I have seen you guys cheer this game"

Anyway.. my point is.. Stay at home if you want complain about everything. They didn't stand one time.. even when the stadium started doing the save the lazy idiots never stood up. They were not any older than 50 either. It is pathetic.. they were obviously either from Farragut or tellico village.

There were 3 guys sitting behind me and my friends that complained about us standing up.

Of course they were Martin students and left during the 2nd quarter so they didn't bother us too much.

The rules are simple. When the people in front of you are standing and you can't see, stand up. If everybody in front of you is sitting down, keep your ass in the seat.

Why are we doing the wave still?

And my last experience in Neyland, I had to put up with the wave and the "family" in front of me getting up and down in the middle of plays as they go to get Petro's, pizza and hot dogs. Your typical Farragut-esque/Ozzie & Harriet type family just out having a nice family outing with the kids.

Made me sick.

They used to have a UT shirt that said something to the affect of "If you cant see stand up"... When Im at the games I rarely sit, and always yell at the top of my lungs. Fans like me are the ones that give us home field advantage, fans like the ones sitting behind you are why some people believe places like UCLA, Cal, and USC have better home field advantages because of the noise. Weak sauce...

I am a former Farragut resident. Recently relocated to Tellico Village...just what are you guys suggesting about the fine folks living out west?

You must be young. Sometimes, the infirmities of old age (even middle age) make it uncomfortable to stand, especially for long periods of time. Old or injured knees, ankles, hips, etc. are not visible ailments, so the reason for people to sit when even they might prefer to stand are not always apparent. Besides, if they didn't want people to sit in the stadium, they wouldn't have put in seats.

I was sitting in section H of the student section right behind the band. For whatever reason just the section in my immediate area started to sit down right near the end of the 1st quarter... It wasn't even over yet. They proceeded to sit the rest of the game.

Anyway I continued to stand for the next 5ish to 10 minutes of the game... I could hear the people complaining to their neighbor beside them.. I eventually sat even though they never confronted me.. And I overheard some smart remark when I did finally sit..

Its freaking pathetic... Its the student section... In the first QUARTER.. two of the pansy students behind complaining had heavy eastern european accents.

Most are old people that think they are better than everyone else. Especially the women. I deal with these people on a daily basis.

and your what we refer to as "that guy". Annoying and they always seem to see penalties that nobody else sees.

Also some morons in section H if the student section were continuously trying to get the wave started when the score was only 3-0 and 10-0.

They need to stay at home then or go with the rest of the old moneybags to Club LeConte and watch the game there.

I stand on defense, sit on offense, unless a big play happens. I am usually drunk as hell, and will encourage others to "stand the **** up" if the situation presents itself. I very rarely get to see games anymore, but I will be doing the same things for Florida, UAB and either UGA or LSU this year.

I don't particularly like doing the wave, but I mean the people behind me didn't stand on ANYTHING. I mean even the denarious moore touchdown run they sat and golf clapped. The old lady behind me thought she was an expert commentator as well.

After the 2nd time we took a knee at the end she was like "Dooley should take a knee here to be respectful" Her husband was like "That is exactly what they have been doing" She said "Oh ok good"

I mean do these old hags even watch the game or just try and impress their husbands by pretending they do? I mean damn.. make some noise! Our team needs us more than ever this year..

Or u can accept the fact that not everybody wants to do what u think they should do.

I was yelled at to sit down at game....

this is exactly why Neyland fails in comparison to the swamp....and when I say fail, I mean miserably.

Funny stuff...my wife surprised me with second row seats for a Jimmy Buffet concert recently. Got there early and settled in, man I was soooo happy to be sitting 30-40 feet from the stage, as this was my first JB concert.

Show started...the guys in front of us stood up and blocked our view....wife asked me to tell them to sit. I looked around, everyone was standing, so I laughed it off and we stood for 3 hours.

Paid for great seats but didn't need em. So....you gots to go with the flow, no other way around it.

Some of these folks may very well be wounded war veterans? Just because they can afford a ticket at today's prices doesn't mean they are "moneybags". Would you deny them the right to sit in the stadium, too?
