I was wrong after the Kansas loss

This is a major red flag. We simply aren't very good. And Ament and Gillespie are 27 for 90 combined last 3 games. Okpara is lost.
Outside of the 1-6 FT shooting tonight, I don't see the Okpara issue you and a few others are seeing. He looked like the only one who cared to be out there tonight. 5 pts, 6 rebs, 2 blks, 0 TOs. isn't a bad line from him. Hit the FTs and he's in double-digits.

After being at the game tonight vs. Illinois I think .500 in conference play and a 7-10 seed in the tourney is possible. However don't think this team unless significantly improves makes it out of the first weekend of tourney play. Most concerning tonight was our inability to guard off the dribble. Illinois had way too many blow by drives to the basket for easy layups. Combine that with offensive deficiencies and it is what it is.

Not very good right now. I think we still have potential to be better, but man we have a long way to go.
No doubt that CRB is wrestling with this bunch of players. Who says getting older is easy? Still, I've got confidence in Rick Barnes.

It’s the worst roster we’ve had in a while. Comparable to the Springer/Keon team.
There's length, depth and talent, but it's just not working well together right now especially on defense. I think our biggest issue now is that we planned to have a healthy Estrella and it's clear he's just injury prone. While Brown won't have his length and offensive game, I hope the staff accelerates his progress and gives him more minutes.

A staple of a Rick Barnes team
I used to think Barnes wore his teams down by demanding such effort on defense. That's clearly not the case with this bunch. I'd also expected us to be an inside out team. With Estrella going though his constant injury parade, that's obviously limited us. Goes to my BVS rule that states in section 2 subsection 6 paragraph 3: Pick any UT sport and identify the one or two players we simply cannot afford to lose and watch them go down with injuries.

Barnes certainly needs to give some players more playing time than other are getting (the starters). They simply aren't playing like starters and therefore haven't earned it in my opinion. Barnes is NOTORIOUS for sticking with the same ol thing even when it doesn't work. I can't think of a coach that tries to put a square peg through a round hole more than Barnes does. Yes, he is one of the winningest coaches of all times, but this is also the reason he can't get over the hump.

I think he has the talent on this team, they just aren't playing good team ball right now. He has the bigs this year to pound inside with most teams but so far they just don't consistently do anything well for the entire game. By end of January as they become familiar with each new teammate's tendencies and strong suits they will be playing much better. To be honest, with seemingly entire roster turnovers every year thanks to the transfer portal, I just don't get too invested in it anymore. They will all probably be playing at another school next year and we'll have 7 new faces, so I'm not sure it's even worth my effort to learn everyone's name!
