I want to apologize to Coach Martin

right. you didn't post +1 when Zjc said CM wasn't the guy and had to go, and you didn't discuss the coaches you wanted to replace him.
Just act like it didn't happen, deflect, and maybe nobody will notice.

1. You apparently need a new sarcasm meter

2. Once again, I never realize that discussing coaches who would likely be candidates IF a move was made, meant I was calling for his head.

You would think all that free eduction you got being such a baller, that your reading comprehension would've been better.

Howland, Marshall and Smart are all high on their list. Howland wants the job, and Smart might finally leave VCU as he's seeing how hard it's gonna be to stay at the level he had them there.

I see no way their search falls all the way to Martin.

It's off topic, but why do you think Williams would leave and take such a huge pay cut?

You basically restated most of what I've already said.

I just don't think it's wise to project the worst possible scenario and act like it's also the most plausible scenario. A month ago, we didn't seem to be an NCAA tournament team either, yet here we are, and hot as any team out there. That is in one month's time. Imaging the possibility of what can change before we tip off next season.

I guess it's just a difference in having a glass empty/half-full mindset.

The last month has taught me that things can change for a team, and can change quickly. We all thought we were doomed before the 2005 season too (Pearl whiffed on Tyler Smith amd Jamont Gordon, ran off Matt Dotson, and we had little proven talent returning). As I remember, we turned out alright.

I dont have a glass half empty or half full mindset.....I just look at the tangible evidence in front of me. Yes pearl did an amazing job with his first team and maybe Zo is capable as well. Pearl also had very strong recruiting classes after that and built a strong foundation. Zo's classes have been mediocre......maybe he can big with less but logically its not likely.

I agree with most of that, and my only addition would be to add that Pearl was a seasoned coach with 13 years of experience when he arrived at Tennessee as a head coach. Cuonzo Martin had three years as a head coach, and a program with a black eye to recover. So, while Tennessee should never be a training ground, it has been for CCM, and perhaps we are seeing dramatic inprovement come with gained experience.

I did too......wasnt that hard of a prediction with 68 teams and a really soft bubble.

You said a few times throughout the year that we were NIT bound, or didn't look like we'd make the tourney. Maybe those comments were emotional or out of frustration, but I remember serious doubt coming from you.

No I said that we would make it although with each loss the doubt was increasing.

OR the previous two years of STELLAR NIT performances.....

Those were rebuilding years partially caused by Pearl scandal. Now that Cuonzo's recruits have some experience (juniors) we can judge more accurately - and looking at Stokes and Richardson I'm impressed. Also, McRae has certainly stepped it up under Cuonzo.

If he leaves on his own, it will be because of all the crap he has endured.

I think he should say, "Those who wanted me gone, BYE!" Then maybe even join Pearl down at Auburn as an assistant for good measure. Maybe "The Impatients" will learn something from such as experience. They're the same species spouting the same stuff about Butch Jones right now.

I need to get in on this. Coach Martin has done a great job over our last ten games or so. I may have been wrong to want him out.
