I think everyone is overlooking the remainder of the season.

Don't get me wrong, this 4 game stretch that we're currently 2 games into is by far the biggest hurdle we have to over come, but it just seems like we're assuming that all the remaining games are 'gimmes' and they most certainly are not - especially when you consider the way this team has played down to its competition. If we can beat TAMU & Bama then the rest of the season is certainly ours to lose (we will be heavily favored in all games) but we shouldn't forget how narrowly we escaped SC last year and Mizzou looked pretty good against UGA, a team we beat by a miracle Hail Mary pass as time expired. Long season ahead - I hope our beloved Vols stay focused each week on the game ahead and nothing more. With that mindset we should continue to see spectacular results.

We would be overlooking the a and m game if people started talking about the latter end of the schedule. Therefore, your post is a heaping bowl of irony op

Uhhhhhh, I kinda agree with OP. We do still have to actually play in those back-end games to win.

As if we didn't have enough hand wringers already and OP arrives. It'll be okay OP, let 120 handle it.

Carolina and maybe Missouri could play this team tight. Vandy's defense isn't bad.. Tennessee Tech is playing for a check.. Kentucky=win.

A win this week all but guarantees a trip to Atlanta.

I believe it is possible, particularly if Tennessee continues its tendency to sleepwalk for a half, for Missouri to give Tennessee a somewhat competitive game.

However, I don't think Mizzou can beat Tennessee. Vandy, SC, and Kentucky have absolutely no chance.

I'm sure T120 will not overlook anyone, but VN seems to have counted up the W's before they're really W's...yeah?

The bye week comes at a good time for this reason. After Bama, the team can rest and get ready for a relatively easy 5 game season to close it out and go to Atlanta.

This is a week to week season. Every game is important. I understand where you are coming from bro. But everyone is focused on aTm at the moment and bama the next. This four game stretch is our biggest challenge. Then we can recover on our bye week. We are focused on the task at hand. Then we can look at the next week. I just think we all understand that these are our toughest teams. You can't say we should be as concerned about Vandy as we should be Alabama? There's no comparison.

I think the OP made perfect sense. I've also seen a lot of counting chickens before they hatch on the backend of the schedule. For instance if we drop one of the next 2 games were 11-1 or lose both and we're 10-2 and no doubt UF loses another game if not more so the East is ours.

Not only is the next 2 games as tough as any 2 weeks on anybody in the nations schedule but the back half can show a couple teams that happen to start playing their best football late or this team sleep walking through that stretch. A lot can go wrong and every SEC win/loss counts just as much as the next.

Best case is team 120 starts playing up to its potential this week for 4qrts in every game here on out cause I don't see many teams that can beat this team @ 100% with the added grit and determination to fight for a win to the last second of games they have shown.

How can we overlook the rest of the season, when the games you mentioned are THREE WEEKS AWAY? Are you kidding me? How can you overlook something that is nearly a month away without overlooking the next game? Geez people, get it together.

Not overlooking anything, but the biggest challenge is right in front of us at the moment

It's pretty simple when folks are proclaiming we will go 11-1 or 10-2 based on the next two games. They're saying the remaining 5 games are automatic W's

This team should take no W for granted.

I agree but this team has held their/there own. been in some "dog" fights and came out on top.

that said...

you cant go with one back for game closing drives..no blocker means failure most of the time if u are just as complacent as our OC is.

College football is crazy and being a Tennessee fan we have seen some crazy outcomes over the last couple years. I'm never going to say never when it comes to Tennessee football again.

I will say though, I definitely like our chances against those teams.
