JMO and some projection:

With his defense, he makes key stops, steals and turnovers.

Key hustle baskets almost every game.

He is the coach on the floor. The other players respect him and his leadership

Finally, it’s his year over year improvement. If he improves as much next year, as he has done this year, he will be All SEC.

He has become my favorite player on the team this year.

He is good at rebounding missed threes as well. He is a smaller version of Mashack on defense, but a better offensive player. Seems to be clutch like a Mashack too.
Not picking on you because I've seen that comparison a couple times now, so I suspect there is perhaps some Mandela effect at play, but Boswell and Mashack are nearly identical in size. UT lists both at 6'-4 and FWIW, ESPN lists Boswell as an inch taller and seven pounds heavier than Mashack.

I think his game is a little more comparable to Josiah Jordan James than Mashack, even though he plays Mashack’s position. But yes, I see similarities from both.

They look and play absolutely nothing alike.

I suspect it is the defensive aspect of their games that draw the similarities. Boswell is a bit more assertive on offense, but both are pretty uneven on that end of the floor. Both are effective, though hesitant 3-pt shooters.
Boswell seems a bit more willing to take the pull-up 15 footer. Mashack had that in his bag too, but the only time I remember doing it was the year ZZ got hurt and he had to take on a lot more offensive load. I was always surprised he never did more of that later in his career. Consummate team guy I guess

Happy to see him take advantage of his increased minutes this season. Guy is all over the court hustling and making plays, even if they don’t show up in the stat book. He’s the kind of player Barnes loves to coach. He seems like a really good dude too. Every home game I’ve been to with my son the last couple years he comes out after the games and spends time talking to and signing stuff for the fans. That means a lot to the kids that look up to them.

I'm not aiming this at anyone but there were some on here (volnation) saying he probably shouldn't be on the floor once the season starts.
Aim at me. I was one of the people that was surprised Barnes brought him back.
I'm happy to have been wrong. I appreciate his effort and intensity.
I do wish he would try not to get a concussion every single game though...that would be nice.

As far as getting hit in the face goes, Boswell is much better than Mashack.

Guys like Boswell are the guys who are steadying forces. Do it all player. No matter the team. Perkins on Nova is same type player. You take Boswell out of the lineup and we’d probably have another 3-4 losses.

Same. But I think a lot of us thought that.
This.

There is no one that objectively watched Bishop Boswell play last season and realistically believed he was set for a major role on a team whose staff essentially brought in as many as 5 other players to compete for that position.

Projecting the level of improvement he's shown would be like currently believing that Ethan Burg is a starter for Tennessee, next year. As in, no one believes that.

He was brought in as an alleged PG but demonstrated almost no ability to play the position his freshmsn year, and then also showed no signs of being a viable shooter or scorer. The improvement he made in one offseason is pretty incredible. His next steps need to be adding an ability to get to the rim and score (he has the size and strength) and tightening his handle. If he can do those things while continuing to improve his shot, the sky is the limit for what he can do with two more seasons.
