Knecht got hurt with 1:39 left and we were down by 8. We trailed by double-digits for 3/4 of the game and never led. There was no doubt who was the better team that day. And unfortunately for us in this case, sports is a bottom-line business where only wins and losses matter.Hadn't we cut it to 4 when he got hurt? All the momentum was on Tennessee's side.
I'm not saying that loss kept us from a 1 seed or a win would've given it to us. Just pointing out that we were in great position to win until DK went down...and given that it was in Chapel Hill, that matters.
But none of us really know what the committee considers and by how much. I'm not going to pretend to know.
I'm not preaching here, but I'm willing to bet nobody on the committee is sitting in that room talking about the nuances of specific games, in-game comebacks, etc. especially when evaluating the body of work for 68-plus teams for bracketing and seeding, unless a key injury is involved which they need to account for (i.e. Kenyon Martin in 2000). They're looking at "who did you play," "who did you beat," and "who did you lose to," with emphasis on the first two questions.
